Don't rush the job is what I normaly tell others....this time I had to rush myself for a reason. what a bad decision.
Fitted a new cv joint as I discovered a crack in the old cv when I did the swivel seals/bearings sometimes ago.
Fitted a new bush into the stub axle in the same time. Although I could still push the cv in by hand it was a very tight fit.
I thought about it when I - days later engaged the freewheel hubs....and sure enough after about 50 meters there was a faint screaming from the front, only about two seconds.
I took it apart just now - and my feelings were right. The friction was too much and resulting heat...it melted to the cv shaft and ....well you can see what happened.
I have had apart / rebuild most parts of the 60, but never changed one of those bushes. The wsm doesn't tell anything either. So - to how much of a play are you honing the bush out when doing theses bushes ?

If it’s tight it’s too tight
