So, I searched and came up empty.

I bought MAF's conversion kit a while back as part of my H41 & transfer upgrade. I didn't think twice about the parking brake cable routing or length until I got the whole set-up installed this past weekend.

As you know, the cable comes from the passenger side of the firewall. MAF's conversion is set up for a 40 (I assume) and needs the cable to meet the brake assembly on the driver's side. I thinking the cable is approx. 10-16 inches too short.

I talked to Steve at MAF (great guy, BTW) and he couldn't really help me, as he hadn't heard of how any pig owners had rectified the situation.

I know I can find a "custom" cable shop and have one made, but was wondering if any of you had installed this kit and found an "off the shelf" brake cable that worked.

Thanks in advance for any insight.

Sorry but I also bought one of those go-cart brakes from Man-a-fre. Steve was also nice to me when I sent it back. My little engineer brain did a double flip when it figgered that un out. No way would I get that pos anywhere near a LandCruiser. hope I'm clear on that......just to make sure, SEND IT BACK. Installed it?.....take it off and then send it back.

rsb,

It looks like a decent unit to me, and I've heard of alot of people who have it and love it (granted, on 40's).

On the workbench, it seemed like it would only take a hair of pressure to make it hold like a sumbitch.

What didn't you like about it?

bogus one; I had to go the longer cable route when I went with the split TC on my 78; I believe one off a very early fj40 is a good fit; got mine from Gary at Mudrack; you might give him a call............he is very helpful and can give you the numbers; MAF was very helpful on SELLING; BUT that I was on my own when it came to making the conversion work <grrrrrrrrrrrr>..........it does work; but it took this groups help and advice; good luck:cheers:

Lou
P.S. did you ever find the filler neck for the aux tank?

Thanks Lou, I'll give Gary a call.

Yes, I have your filler neck, I don't want to pull it off the truck until I can patch the hole immedietely.

Maybe this weekend? Sorry to make you wait.

I needed the long parking brake cable for my doubler. Got it from Mudrak, it's for a 40 but works for the Pig...

I cant recall which one I found that worked, but its a 40 one for sure, and had the threaded adjuster nuts on the cable at the firewall end.

just looked it up, and its a 74 FJ40 parking brake cable.

Was that for the MAF brake setup?

I know, works well as a parking brake but I forsee all sorts of problems. It could, jam, it works better in one direction than the other (trust it to hold you pointing up and down hill equally well?). As an emergency brake...um no. So to me it is less than the stock unit so not Landcruiser worthy. Definitely a convervative view but........
