How much should you be able to turn the differential/driveshaft before the wheels start turning? Should it be right away or a little bit of a turn b4 you can feel the gears engage. I turn mines and i get a little bit of play before I get any movement. I also checked the pinion nut and it was not coming loose.

does the shaft have play in it? Compare it to the front. I'm talking about not when your spinning but like up and down movement.
Yep. A little play is normal.
I kinda freaked out the 1st time I found mine like that so I called a major Diff. company and they said, it shouldnt be total slop but a little is fine.
