New water for me here in this section...

I'm wondering how realistic it is to use a diesel troopy to tow a trailered 40 to events? Any thoughts/recommendations?

I'm asking because it may be tax advantageous for me to make a vehicle purchase before year end (possibly even one plus parts which could be one or more additional trucks).

Probably a remote chance of something coming together due to time, but maybe someone out there wants to liquidate in the next couple weeks??

please post, PM, or email...

thanks

thanks to those that have responded... I'm hearing that the H/2H and 2F are rated pretty closely in terms of torque so they're pretty comparable in towing capabilities.

Anyone else want to weigh in? I can't believe there haven't been a bunch of people that have trailered a 40 behind a troopy (gas or diesel)... or at least given it a go.

I wouldn't expect it to be close to using a "real" tow vehicle, but how far off is it?

thanks

yeah, not the way to go. my 84 hj47 can cruise along at 70mph and take most hills at decent speeds, but i would never attempt to tow anything more than a small utility trailer with it. not even sure that i'd wanna tow my jet skies to the lake with it.

mine has a stock 2H engine in it. even with a turbo and an intercooler you'd still be severely underpowered......
