Lurking here, but what's the benefit of a small electric impact versus using a breaker bar with the appropriate adapter to get the screws out? I watched Clay's YouTube video and he used a small impact too. Why is that a better approach? Thanks.

An Impact (I use a more powerful air type) turns with a series of short bursts, hammers it to turn, much less likely to cam out. A manual wrench turns with constant torque, more likely to cam out, strip the fastener drive.

isnt this a jis bit application? I have been looking for a jis to use but cant find a jis bit that will fit my right angle impact...
im currently doing the valve cover, then the distributor o ring, then this seal, does anyone have the appropriate jis head i can borrow purchase for this one time application? i already have the replacement hex bolts to replace these with.

Maybe jis, but depending on method, really doesn't matter. I hammer the bit into the fastener solidly enough to broach the fastener to perfectly match the bit. The vibration also loosens the fastener, rarely strip one, most times reuse them.

The bolt is 6mm so its .236" so its less than .250 or 1/4" so your drill will work. Look at a drill bit size chart on the net and look for a appropriate size bit.

I just looked at my old order from Grainger and heres the screws i used. I gave the extras to fellow mudders. They are still holding up for me.

Drill the head off, remove the cover, thread the stub out with pliers.
I'm in the same position right now. There is no thread available to grab with pliers.
I've never done a drill tap & assuming that's what I'll need to do here?
I just posted my pics and thread here.👇
