Got 5 new denso TPMS sensors on rockauto in April to go with new summer tires and wheels. The cold weather hit fast last week and the TPMS light came on. I checked the pressure in all 5 tires, the road wheels were fine but the spare had gotten down to 24psi. Pumped the spare back up to 32 and have driven about 2 miles (i live in a city) but the TPMS light is still on.

Should I just hit the highway for 15 mins after work or try a reset procedure or is there a chance one of the batteries is dead from the cold? Would be pretty disappointing if new sensors can't even make it 1 year......

Run buy your local tire shop. They'll usually check TPMS function for free using a scanner and advise on the sensor/battery condition. I'd suggest getting them from your local tire shop next time as they might warranty them for a year. My shop charges $68.50 for TPMS replacement and re-programming.

I am happy to report the TPMS light went out. It was likely just responding to the spare getting low. Took like 3 drives to reset itself.

Yes, although install and programming were included in that. My time is not free, saving $190 to also have them warrantied while avoiding DIY dismounting of all 5 tires, breaking the bead, replacing the TPMS, and buying the tool to re-connect/re-pair them is money well spent.
