The GCLC meeting was held Dec 9, 06 in NJ. In attendance were:
Joe Mylie, Tom Humphries, Todd Oldenberg, George Scherer, Arnold Mercer, Mike Stevens, Aaron Kanar, Dan Elmlinger, Jon Held, Joshua Held, Brian O'Loughlin, Mark Woytovich and Woodrow Woytovich .
GCLC business was discussed.
President Brian O announced his intention to step down as soon as possible. A request for nominations for Pres and VP, Sec and Treasurer went unanswered.
Tom H has offered to stay on as TLCA delegate.
Mark W will be (re)developing a membership database to manage memberships and renewals with a web-based interface of some sort.
The suggestion was made to move to an calendar year membership renewal policy rather than one where memberships run for one year from join date.
Financial report was not given as the Treasurer was not present. A general figure of about $3000 in the bank was mentioned by Brian.
Decision was made to get more non-event shirts made, slogan and color choices are undecided. (but remember: black is the new black.)
It was suggested that we find a single person to coordinate communications with regional Toyota dealerships. In light if the high visibility of the new FJ Cruiser dealerships are apt to be more open to developing a relationship wth an off-road oriented club. A potential new membership pool is seen in new FJC owners that were not interested in or aware of off-road activities prior.
Joe M mentioned that there is Federal money given to the states to develop motorized outdoor activity areas. Joe is involved in learning about this as a member of the Yankee Toys club and offered to look into what is happening in this area in New York state.
CMCC 07 was discussed.
Brian O will be coordinating the event.
Dan E and Aaron K will be leading the vendor solicitations for sponsorship and the raffle.
Tom H will be developing an event "program" to give to all attendees containing schedules, info, maps etc.
Jon H will arrange for production of event tee shirts and stickers.
Mark W will design the shirts and stickers. A request for design ideas was made, failing that Mark will likely update last year's design for 07.
Aaron mentioned that he liked the Jim Chenoweth seminar given a couple of years back. There was discussion regarding seminars on winching, Tread Lighty wheeling and other topics. Jon will contact someone about doing winching. Joe M offered to do Tread Lightly. Mark W will contact Jim C to see if he'll come in from Ohio to do a carb discussion or something else. Other ideas for presentations are welcome.
It was discussed that getting a major sponsor for some part(s) of the event would be good. It was mentioned that a sponsor could "buy" the dinner "Dinner presented by..." sort of thing.
A date for CMCC was set, pending approval from Paragon. CMCC 07 will be held July 12, 13, 14 and 15, 2007 at Paragon Adventure Park.
Probably more stuff when on. If you were there and you remember, chime in.
If you could not make the meeting and are interested in stepping up to the plate to get involved please let me know. I'll get you in touch with the right people to make your dreams of fame and fortune in the GCLC management cabal a reality.
