Planing on heading out on the 3rd (Saturday) for a run to try and find some snow. Hoping to stay fairly close to home Sylvester or Squamish.

So far it looks like myself and brother (80 and 60) friends XJ and a full size blazer. None of us have huge tires Gavin has the largest at 37" so trying to find somewhere to go that is not to crazy.

keep me posted, I have a family dinner that day so I have to stay close to home

No problem, looks like we will head up Sylvester. Not sure how much snow will be left but it's close by we got a truck coming that just got on the road so close is good.

My truck is out for the weekend run, I went to try and get my rear locker working and the actuator housing is like crumbly sandstone not salvageable and the replacement cost from Toyota is giving me chest pains. Going to ride along with Gavin.

So what does Mr. T want for one anwyays?

Looking like around $1700 for the actuator its self. Interestingly I can get the entire 3rd with actuator from Toyota for much much less.

Looks like the run is still on for the weekend, I'm going to go with Gavin in his 60.

Thinking about meeting at the Husky on Sylvester road at 9:30am.

Did you try the Cruiser parts people in the US, like Cruiser Dan?

This all happened last night at 8ish so I am calling around today. I have found a few used e-locker 3rds for $500us + shipping. My worry is how much better is it going to be? Last thing I want to do is get a non working e-locker and be back to rebuilding another actuator. If I can get a new Toyota 3rd around $1000 maybe that is the way to go.

Ok so got my pricing from Toyota, the actuator is $1000 and the complete 3rd with actuator is $1200 I think I would opt for the complete 3rd at that cost difference, start with all new.

I have also found a used one in the US for about $500 just waiting on pictures......and that money tree to start blooming.

I may also try and JB weld what I have back together so I can at least drive it working locker or not.

I have a friend in Chilliwack giving me a snow report on Mt Thurston today so we may head up there. If not we will stick to Sylvester (I have a feeling most the snow on Sylvester is gone tho).

And swap in some 5.29s while your at it ;)

Well all the US fella's are of the mind that 37's and 5.29 is the shiznit. They seem to be quite happy with that combination.

I have 35's tho..... If I had 4.88's and for some reason went up to 37's I would just get the Marlin low gears for the t case. My worry with going with to low a gear is that I want to some day do a diesel swap.

Any ways back on topic anyone coming form the CC? We are trying to decide on Thurston or Sylvester right now.

My 3F-E crapped itself, I have been meaning to do the galley plug fix before it failed and pumped all the oil out... too late. I haven't fixed it yet, but I wouldn't be surprised I spun a bearing or two, it was making a gawd awful sound prior to shutting it off and getting it towed. Of course, I gave away my spare motor, which has already been parted out. I'm sure Ciaran has a couple laying around...

Ouch! I hear you have a 40 to fall back on tho... ;)

Are you going to swap in another 3FE or something else? Those Izuzu Diesel swaps are look good and cheap.

There was someone selling 2 HJ60's on the island a few weeks ago for a pretty good price.

Hmmm slight Diesel theme with my suggestions there. :grinpimp:

Phil, talk to steverb, he bought my 3FE which was just fine as far as 3FE's go. 120,000 miles. Last I heard, it wasn't touched yet...I think that was October-ish.
