Does anyone know if there is a water n ice or a water kiosk in Beatty? Might help us 80 drivers out with a little weight savings.

Eric- backseat driver (yeah, I am that tall)
Tonya- better driver

1992 FJ80; keepin' it real………………………….slow.

The 35's are coming off, and the 33's are back on so that I can keep up with y'all. But, it is remarkable how much more peppy the Cruiser feels down near sea level.

@Dimples. I am not sure about a water kiosk, but it is a well stocked town. It has a couple of motels, gas stations, casino, etc. There are also campgrounds on the south end, and 5.5 mi north of town that have water fill up stations. I think the one north of town is free, not sure about south of town.

A few people have sent notes about gas prices in the various stops. As we get towards each town that we have targeted for filling up we can have a couple people call it out on the ham and we will also share via CB. The availability of fast food choices and getting snacks will diminish as we get to Beatty and if someone really wanted to cut down on their camping time they could gat a hotel room in Beatty. Tempting, I know.

Casino rooms start at $60.95. Death Valley Motel $77.00 other interesting places available but didn't check rates.

Motel, hotel should not even be mentioned on this trip

Crap I just bought all new cold weather overlanding gear. How am I ever going to test this stuff out? I need suggestions for overland approved shorts and t-shirts. Guess I will have to pack a multi-functional wardrobe closet.

You could just leave the sleeping bags and tent at home and see if you stay warm sleeping on the ground.

I was just thinking that the TA in Kingman is a PITA to get in and out of. Either the Express Stop or the Mobil on the North side of Beale St might be better for a large group entering and exiting.

True, the stuff on the East Side of the Hwy in Kingman would be preferable. I could not remember what gas company affiliation they were when I spoke with Brice and we were planning. So, TA was mentioned, and it stuck.

Looked like it had a stop light, but we can flex. Maybe if Pitch gets there first he can call us and redirect. We just need parking and a place to turn around to get back on the road.

We also have 1Louder who is sleeping in and will catch up in either Kingman or Beatty.

Ya we drive through there a few times a year and avoid the TA like the plague. Even going the other direction getting back on the road is always a fight.

You need to go here, Triple Aught Design your overland wear worries will be over quickly, your money issues may quickly arise however. I just bought some new stuff for this trip from TAD.

TAD is Overland haute couture. Yikes! Nice stuff, but they need to offer payment plans. Sierra Trading Post clearance for me.

Up until the last couple years about every Friday after work we would head north. Along highway 87 from the 300 road north a few miles when there was fresh snow in the winter we would see tents with with small camp fires just of the highway. We figure this is Boy Scouts earning a winter camping badge. You could always join them.

The weather in DV looks like it will be perfect, should be a great time.
