It's a LandCruiser for Pete's sake! Two pages of talk about wood trim! Screw some checker plate over it and take it Cruise Moab. After you run Pritchett canyon (a 100 series likley can) you won't worry about the wood trim at all.

Seriously, if they did the damage, camp out till they fix it. If you are a scammer ( as they are implying ) sell the Cruiser to a nice person and buy a J**p

Wood is for furniture and keeping the house warm, i.e. for the fireplace. Having said that, I would screw that dealership to the wall out of principle. So what if they won't service your rig. The local Toyota dealership can do the same service anyway, you just won't get your danish with the free coffee. I would seriously look into a wood alternative and I understand why you are upset. You would probably like to keep the stock setup for sentimental if not resale value. The GM is a blowhard who is looking out for his own arse when it comes to reporting to the owner why he had to pay out on a shop error. The GM got to be GM by being a slickster saleman. He has probably never worked in the service department although I'm sure he knows what goes on in there. He will intimidate, threaten, and deny you service in the future and he figures that it's no sweat off his balls. Call the local news call for action representative. They love this type of story. It's not a story of a poor widow getting screwed by corporate America, so you need to find the right angle. I'm thinking that they would like the "Large foreign corporation says they offer better service and quality than the domestic makes, yet won't look out for their own customers...." angle. I would wait until they were at their busiest sales event, right around a major holiday promotion, at which point I would roll in with any reporter or news crew that would come with me. That, or my buddy posing as a lawyer. Or a buddy who is a lawyer. I would file continous lawsuits just to make it worth my $1800 bucks. Good luck, don't get an ulcer. It's only a dash. You could be in a third world country wishing your donkey didn't have so much gas as you walk behind him. :D

Not sure, but is this the piece that you're talking about?

If so it's heck of a lot cheaper than $1800. Maybe it wouldn't work anyway, but let me know if it would and that if you are interested.

Good luck!

i spoke to the manager already. the problem is that it can't be proved that 'they' did it. and that's their excuse for it...
i will post pictures once i get it back from the dealer.

What a bunch of criminals. Why am I not surprised?

What dealer was this?

Hi,

I would like to add my experience here. I had a new 4Runner that received damage to the rear bumper when it was being unloaded off the transport truck. I did not catch the damage until I got home. I brought it to the attention of the Toyota Dealer that sold me the 4Runner. I got almost exactly the same song and dance you did on your wood trim from that dealer. A week later I got a customer satisfaction survey from Toyota. I told them my rear bumper story and assured them that while I was a long term Toyota customer, based on the dealers treatment of me, it would be the F**n Toyota I would ever buy. 2 weeks later I got a call from the Toyota Regional office, assuring me they would take care of the problem. 10 minutes later I got a call from the owner of the dealership asking when it would be convenient for me to come get my new bumper installed. I have also had some poor dealings with a local Toyota Dealership Sales Department that resulted in me writing letters to Toyota USA. The sales manager came to me personnally and asked that before I write any more letters I discuss the issues with him, because he did not like the regional Toyota Office calling him up and wanting to know what they were doing to upset their customers.

My point is, Toyota/Lexus is highly concerned about how their dealerhips treat their customers. I think that Lexus would be interested in hearing that the dealer threatened to cut you off. I say, screw the dealer, call a customer rep for the zone and give them an earful. I would almost bet you the dealer ship will be kissing your tail before it is all over.

mot, the wood trim you have posted is for the climate control area. The one I'm referring to is the one around the shifter knob.
As for calling lexus, I have already called them up. Waiting to hear back from them. I did have a chat with the lexus regional rep. last week because he was at the dealership when i dropped the car off for service. I did show him what the issue was with the climate control acting up. And I was told that it will be looked at.
let's see. I will keep everyone updated. and thanx for all the comments they've been great support as i thought i was the only one facing this scenario.

Uhm, confussed here. You said

I went to pick up the lx from the dealer today and I found out that while trying to pry open the center console, where the audio and climate controls are, the tech used a screw driver and broke off the piece of wood in the center console.

Now you say

mot, the wood trim you have posted is for the climate control area. The one I'm referring to is the one around the shifter knob.

If you are referring to the one that is around the shifter, I do not believe that they would have to remove that to work on the climate control.

FAWK it.........and rattle can it :D

correct,
i mentioned that while trying to open up the center console, they used a screw driver which was rested against the wood trim against the shifter as that is the corner where they put the screw driver in.

So what you are calling the center console is really the trim piece (bezel) around the radio and the AC system? The center console is really the thing between the seats.

So you are saying the trim on the cover for the tranny hump got damaged when opening the center console? The back end of most screwdrivers are plastic, so you say they inserted the screwdriver tip to pry the bezel off and in the process the back do the screwdriver damaged the other trim piece? I can see how the service manager thinks this a stretch and he is probably correct that they did not work on that part.

Can you post pics of this? Would be easier to understand what it is all about.

Also, if you are determined to fix it, you might be able to locate the piece used in good condition. I replaced the bezel on my last truck since the little screen in front of the clock/temp display was cracked. Cost me $100. Came from a Lexus.

A picture IS worth a thousand words...not to mention threads: Let's see one.

If you can live with not having anymore work performed by this dealership again, get some
service work performed on your vehicle and pay by check. Then stop payment on the check. I have done this when I'm not satisfied when the maintenance performed on my vehicle. Untill
I feel they get it right there is not a dam thing they can do about it. The only way they can ontain their payment is to take you to court(wow, does that sound familiar). Sometimes you have to get dirty to obtain satisfaction or to motivate people. But, when you play dirty you can't hang around continuing to be 'friends' when a dealership that doesn't give a dam about your concerns!

Or, Just Let It Go !!!

I have had good luck with our bank, US Bank, when I have VISA'd something that wasn't right...the charge card companies provide mediation, effectively. And it doesn't cost anything...just a letter/e-mail describing the facts.

Amex. ex. is also good to pay with, they can prove to be a good friend in cases like this. I can only IMAGINE the ride they will take you for next time! maybe i don't understand what piece your after either but try http://www.autocarparts.com/cars/Lexus/ALL/Accessories/ALL/ACP/, with the difference in cost go to small claims file a claim, subpoena every person that touched your vehicle and worked that day! Have some fun and NEVER GO BACK! plenty of toy./lexus certified mechanics everywhere that have real live families and would treat you right!

The Nissan dealer where I take my wifes Z does a walk around when you take it in for service and fills out a form indicating if their is any damage and you sign it. I like that idea. When they get done I do another walk around to confirm no damage was done. That way this might not happen. I also check the oil/filter and look for any leaks before I move the car. Better to be safe then sorry. But like you I had to have a big mistake happen before I became that parinoid. :)

Man, this thread is fawked up. I don't understand the reasoning behind letting this go because there are only a couple of dealers in your area. This dealer obviously screwed you, didn't take of your complaint, even threatened you on future service, and you're worried about keeping a good relationship with them? You don't have a good relationship with them NOW. There is no way I would let anyone at that dealership touch my vehicle again. If you think about it, would you ever feel comfortable letting that dealer service your vehicle again? I would crawl so far up that dealer's ass, he would wonder why he came to work that day!

There are so many places that can service vehicles for you. Whether it be a Toyota dealer or even an independent mechanic. You should definitely contact Lexus corporate and state your case to them. And above all else, don't let that tool of a manager run over you like that. That is inexcusable to be treated that way by any dealer!

i agree. this is not how the dealer should respond.
i have logged in a call at lexus and waiting to hear back from them. let's see what corp. lexus has to say about this.

lexs470, from reading your many threads you seem to have an unusually high number of problems with your vehicle that many of us cannot duplicate. it is obvious that you have a lemon. i would recommend trading for another vehicle as soon as you can. you will have nothing but problems from the current vehicle - i would get rid of it as soon as possible.
