FWIW Just thought I would mention that my DBAs saved my butt today. Freeway traffic went from 80 to a stop for no apparent reason in approx 250-300 ft just over a rise. I had about 250 lbs of steel in the back too which didn't help. I had the truck in a serious nose dive and the 315's in that light howl just prior to lock up and barely stopped in time. The Lexus IS 300 behind me couldn't stop and had to abort into the Carpool lane almost taking out a couple of other cars. I can definitively say that the slotted only DBA rotors (with OEM pads) stopped way better and with zero brake fade than my old OEM rotors also with OEM pads. The minor difference in price is well worth it. The improvement in normal braking was noticed before but the way they performed in a true emergency stop was a life saver. In case anyone is on the fence.

I didnt know these trucks can actually go to 80mph? :D

Praise almighty that the LC didnt get hurt!
J/K Bud! Glad nothing bad happened to you and the steel items in the back were secured tight (with what you didnt mentioned?).

Yes they do! I have been preaching this for awhile and quite a few people disagree and argue with me!

Good to see that i have another "Believer" on the board! :D

Glad your safe also!

Made a HUGE difference on the 100 as well!

Here is my writeup of them on my hundo: Baja Overland Installs DBA Rotors On A 100 Series

This is likely an upgrade for me within the next 6 months, was kind of on the fence about the extra $bank$ for the rotors.

I'll probably go with new rotors and 100 series pads. Now I'm seriously considering DBA, I've been in those  hair-raising stops  and witnessed the fade... high pucker factor indeed.

FYI, i run the Drilled AND Slotted and have on 4 different rigs with ZERO issues!

DBA's Drilled and Slotted Series 4000 Rotors and STOCK OEM pads are the best setup IMHO

I tried 4 different sets of "Hi-Perf" pads and none outperform stock!

My .02

x2 on the stock pads. I've tried at least that many different brands including TRD, even replaced some before they're worn out because they're mushy or noisy.

Also, since you're a 100 owner now I assume you mean those pads. I haven't tried the 100 series pads on an 80 but I've heard good things... any feedback?

Funny I remember getting bitched at when someone turned the OEM rotors on thier green 80 and I questioned that practice. Don't remember any mention of DBA rotors. :flipoff2:

I cannot emphasize enough how much better they are. I am a believer in PM and I am a big believer in OEM in regards to Toyota. I have been moding and maintaining Yota's myself for 18 years and I have never had better brakes.

Also very noteworthy is that when I did my brakes I rebuilt all 4 calipers, completely flushed my brake fluid in the lines, master cylinder, and obviously the calipers. I also made sure to clean the rotors very well with Brakleen before installing the calipers and very strictly followed DBA's break in procedure.

Glad you brought that up I almost forgot. I have the 100 series pads in the front and 80 series in the rear. Kevin will probably know better but as I understand it the 100 series pads are thicker and have a slightly bigger contact patch with the rotor thereby providing better stopping and longer life. I don't think the compound is different.

I knew the truck was going away! :D

I have had them on my 60, (2) 40's, and the race truck!

Yeah, i dont know much about the 100 pads on an 80. I put them on my 80 when i did the brake job, but the brakes were SOOO shot ANYTHING would have been an improvement! Sorry, not much help here.

I will say that the 100 stops about 300% better then the 80!!! Even when fully loaded!!! :flipoff2:

After 50 years they finally make a cruiser that stops! :D

Anyone curious is welcome to drive my rig for a comparision!

DIBS! Am I first? :D

Did you get OEM remans? or did you just get parts and rebuilt them yourself.

I am looking at having to replace my rear rotors in the near future...I just slapped cheap rear pads for now...
At least the front side has new rotors and 100 series pads...

I got the OEM rebuild kits from cdan. IIRC the front was about $12 and the rear was about $9. Did them myself, very easy just have to be cautious not to damage the pistons or cylinders. I did a write up that is in the FAQ if you want to check it out more.

Yeah, DBA's kick ass.
Have 'em for 6 years or so on my 80.

classic on the 405 right about at the LAX turnoff when some jerk does the 4 lane shuffle in a rental car.
