It even comes with a fuel dump switch. You know, for emergency landings and whatnot.

Awe, shucks. Stop it.
The high desert hillbilly has the new to me dash and I will one day be cutting it into my piggy. It will still remain modified, of course, and there will be pics, oh yes, there will be pics....

See, here's the deal: I am going to HAVE to fab an instrument panel. I am also going to most likely have to fab the switch panel, too. I DO want to "keep it [close to] stock". BUT.....IF the factory set the ANGLE[?] of the instrument to maybe, say, american human eye level azimuths... I guess what I'm sayin is, if you had the chance to help toyoter design the dash, How would you lay it out? Give us your idea of the perfect set up, please.

Got my new dash base assembly from Corn last w/e. Will have pics and plans soon. I have seen on some other threads here that there are several modified dash ideas/manifestations that I would love to see/raed more on.....Nat, Htown...

This is my dash proposal. I used SOR's repro dash cap, but it is the later style with no drop down for the tailgate switch. My fix covers the whole front of the dash.

I have already machined the blank and it fits good. I was hemming and hawing over how and what to include on the face. I have it figured out now..........I think :p

For my auxilary lights, locker control, etc...........I was thinking about these rocker switches. There are 5 different colors, which is perfect.

I have a fog light switch from Mot too :D

What about a clinomter mounted in the dash?

Does the TEQ logo and FJ55 look good on the dash? If I don't do a clinometer or change the location, I can change the logo location too.

The pics are from my CAD program, the design is done and ready for me to cut out on my mill.............pending changes and ideas from you guys.

Here's a later dash installed on my 71 with the drop down portion of an early dash
put on for good measure. With very little effort, it came together nicely....
relatively clean looking. In my haste, I split the vinyl of the drop portion:doh:
but should be able to clean that up if I ever get around to it. It's not a bad option
if you have the available parts.

I am so dense sometimes. All this time I thought it said Tert. :o

Looks good Nat. My only concern is that the the steering wheel might interfer with your line of sight to the outboard instrument pods. :meh:

Awesome, guys! Hey Nat, where were you gunna squeeze in your haz and heater switches? And what type/size of gauges are you using? Great pic for reference, O.K.

I did away with the stock heater. I am using a Vintage Air unit that has heat/defrost/AC and the controls are on the unit itself.

On my diagram, I show the hazard switch on the far right of my pull switches.

When I did my 350 swap, I used the gauges from Classic Instruments. I have them sitting in a piece of wood as a place holder. I can clearly see all of them.

DUH. If it war a snake, it wood a bit me! I see. What type of radio are you thinking about? I had given up on cds, and was looking at the more modern ones(HD, MP3, and such). A buddy of mine has got an ipod and got this adapter that plugs into the 12v outlet(read cig lighter)and cradles the ipod. Furthermore, it transmits the ipods output to a selectable fm frequency! I have since decided to get an ol skool am/fm analog deck (maybe factory). Thanx!

The PO had already cut the dash for a modern radio, so I have one in there now. I am using a CD/radio/Ipod unit. It has built in Ipod control and a cord you hook the Ipod to, so it keeps it charged.

I have Silverado seats with a Tuffy center console that has the area for the radio. I put my CB in there and ran the Ipod cord into the console. I can take the faceplate off the radio, then all my stuff is safely locked in the Tuffy console.

I also keep a Streamlight flashlight on a charger in the console. So long as my rig is on, it is charging.
