I witnessed someone unloading a trailer in a similar situation. Problem was he was pointed uphill and his whole kit started rolling back downhill about the time the trailered vehicle was about to hit the ground. Parking brakes don't work if the wheels aren't grounded

There is a hugely important difference between setting a parking brake and having someone hold the pedal for you. If forced to load one alone at the very least have it locked in 4wd.
or chock the trailer wheels
Or put jack stands under the tail of the trailer ....
