I have an opportunity to purchase a used diesel motor and 5 speed trans combo out of a mid '80's to mid '90's Daihatsu Delta. It looks like a B motor, (care to guess which one?) but I'm no pro in identifying these beasts.
The motor is a builder, possibly junk: any motor being replaced here usually is in more than terminal condition. The seller is asking $600, complete with starter, alternator, injection pump, bell housing, clutch and trans.
I have no need for the motor, but thought it would be fun to rebuild it, fabricate a running stand and play with it while looking out for a "host" vehicle needing a donor.
Is there a cross reference between the Daihatsu motor designations and the Toyota family designations? I figure that will be the easiest identification method, else I can measure bore and stroke or learn the motor size from the vehicle from which it was extracted.
I did a search, but did not find anything useful.
Cheers,
Rick
