Copper State Cruisers Monthly Phoenix Meeting WEST SIDE EDITION
July 20, 2018 @ 7:30 PM
Rio Vista Park Ramada
Peoria, AZ

Food food and more food

Ron @Dimples treated the group to an amazing brisket that is rumored to be the best barbecue this side of the Mississippi. @medtro @Fuge @Chrismanjs and others were nice enough to provide sides and beer, thank you! We ate like kings, despite the hot temps.

First Time Guests

Seth @cruiserboy14 has a 2014 slate blue FJ Cruiser with around 86k miles. He's been in Phoenix about a month only, moved from California. It has all the goodies, including a rear locker. He's added a lot of extras to make it cool and usable for the best adventures. He also has an '85 FJ60 that "kind of fell in his lap" that he's had since last October. The last people that had it didn't care about it so he's been trying to rebuild it from the previous owner.

ROTM

June - @Abigail was supposed to lead this run but Plan A, B, C, and D didn't happen due to fire forest closures :(

July - @Dimples is leading a run to West Clear Creek. You can do it either as a day trip or overnight. It will include swimming and hiking. July ROTM - West Clear Creek Saturday 7/21/18

August - @LandCruiserPhil will be leading this ROTM. It will require taking a Monday off work. Picking a place up around Flagstaff area where we will be leaving from at 8am Saturday. We will then go to a secret spot on the north rim of the Grand Canyon. We will spend the night there and then go the back route up to the North Rim, up to Jacob's Lake then Marble Canyon. We will eventually end up at White Pocket. This is a very very cool place and this will be a lot of fun. We will make our way back to Phoenix on Monday. Should be stock friendly-ish "relatively." Anyone who goes on this run PLEASE DO NOT POST THE LOCATION ON THE INTERNET. Phil spent a long time finding this spot and he wants it to stay private.

September - Nobody has claimed, who wants to lead this run?

October - @brices123 has this run, leading Casner trail again. @LandCruiserPhil will also be leading a run to Rocky Point over a weekend.

New Business

When Phil was at Expo this year he found a booth with a really cool product: fire mat/blanket that goes over your campfire. It cost $125 and it will go over a full-blown campfire and put it out or it will keep it going just enough to have nice coals in the morning, depending on how you set the vent. If the club agrees, we will keep this as a club item and pass it around to whoever is the leader for that run of the month. This will help a lot with fire safety on club runs.
