Hey gang, we just wrapped up Cruisin the Woods at Browns Camp. Great place to wheel, especially with my new tires. Stock ones got torn up on Steamshovel apparently. Sidewall issues. Anyhoo, got up here (Beaverton, OR) after a 13-hour drive, and my college buddy and I determined my tires were toast (left rear and spare) so we got on the horn with a local tire shop. Let me tell you my friend Steve is THE negotiator. Long story short, first quote on 5 (I'll get the specifics later) tires mounted, balanced, road hazard, 50K warranty, was $1,039. By the time we left the shop we were on the road after getting them down to $700. Bonus, no sales tax in Oregon.

There you go, don't have the cash for the set, so my Mastercard bill just shot up. It's so worth it. Lots of grip over mud, roots, stumps and rock. Now, about those sliders…

We'll see about getting photos up soon.

Should be back in time for Jumbo Grade.

Ok...but what brand, model & size tire did you go with?

Guys he is obviously a tease.

An what we really need are trail pictures of the tires in action.

Yeah...what's with these "photo-journalist's anyway. At least I thought Keith was a photo-journalist. Get those pics posted up boy :flipoff2:

Yeah, sorry about that, kinda spaced it for a while. That was a late-night post.

So, it was five Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revos #P265/70-17. Balanced, mounted, road hazard and 50,000 mile warranty. Like I said, first quote was $1,039, out the door was $700. Steve throwing a fit to get them down to that … priceless. It's a long story, but I can share it on Jumbo Grade.

Steve swears by the tires and right now I have nothing but good things to say about them.

The rig even feels much better on the road. We'll work on getting some photos up tonight. Steve has the images as he was riding shotgun, spotting for me, manning the CB, and getting the shots.

We'll see what we can get uploaded tonight.

Nice, they get really goods reviews from everything I have read.

Yeah, I'm still in Oregon without a card reader for my camera so I won't be able to get photos up for a while. My buddy Steve has the shots of me wheeling the trails. However, it may be a while before I can get my hands on those images. The Cascade Cruisers is working with Todd Kaderabek on getting some of his shots in Toyota Trails. Since the magazine has such sweeping copyrights, they won't publish photos if they've appeared in any medium before in the U.S. That means the online forums too.

If anyone has a chance to wheel at Browns Camp, go for it. The place is amazing. There's terrain for everyone. Since it's Oregon, you can expect a lot of stumps and mud to go with the rocks. Quite a departure from my previous Nevada experiences.

At the very least, I'll get my photos downloaded to my computer and have it with me at Jumbo Grade.

If the anticipation is killing anyone, see what comes up on Mud when you search for Browns Camp or Cruisin' the Woods. I've seen some photos going around.

See everyone at Jumbo, unless of course I have to bail (figured we'd get 'em all on this thread)

I use those on my daily driver (cherokee sport), I've never really tested them offroad. These are my second set, they do really well on ice and slush. The stock cherokee sport corners disturbingly well on those.

Keith is such a slacker. Here is a pic of him at Cruisin' The Woods. I had fun wheeling with him up here. Almost as much fun as peer-pressuring him into tires. ;p

See you guys in Tahoe sometime.

Nice pic. I have got to wheel up there someday. I have done a little stuff up in Washington, but nothing major.

Jack

I was really impressed with what all you could do there. Easy trails, boulder fields, trails for heavy custom rigs, muddy stuff. And the forest is big enough to accommodate all kinds of OHV users, from bikes/atv, 4WD, horse trails, and mountain bikes too, I think.

Pretty narrow trails. Gotta keep eyes on both sides. Trees, roots and stumps make even the easy stuff interesting. Having my friend Steve ride shotgun was very valuable. And we got to be "trail leader" with our 3-rig convoy of stock FJCs. I and the rest of the newbies drew on his experience.

As long as everyone respects each other and plays by the rules, it's easy to have a great experience there. It's about 45 minutes west of Beaverton if you've never been. Still on the east slope. Not sure how much farther to Tillamook, though.
