Not having cable or even television at my place I was not aware of this show which appears to be AWESOME! If you were not aware and you do have cable, enjoy!
I've been seeing the advertisements for that one, looks like a bunch of dumbass rednecks, kind of like axe men and all the other crap H channel is putting out now. Though I will say my interest was a little peeked when I thought I saw both a 55 and an 80 series.
Agreed. I didn't like how they didn't tread lightly. That kind of show could give people that offroad a bad name. I wish it were more educational... Kind of like the Expedition Overland channel on YouTube.
Agreed. I've seen our own club members do much worse at TOTF 14.
Trees on logging roads in Alaska back country are different than million year old karst topography rock formations in MO. but Nobody gave a s--t about that when our members destroyed nature here in the lower lower 48. Just sayin'. I'm Glad to see more who appreciate tread lightly!!!
I’m sorry you feel that way but you should get you information straight before you accuse anyone, all wheeling done at the Ashers last year was on trails. The event you keep bringing up was at one of the new trails we had laid out the previous weekend, it just turned out too hard to do and more than likely be abandoned. At some point all the trails there had to be created.
I wonder which rig from TAC would win the Alaska race? It might become more of which driver since we have a lot of capable rigs.
And on the tread lightly issue, that trail was explained to me differently. Between the rock formations not over them. If I misunderstood I apologize. I was not there the weekend before. And I understand at some point trails must be "created".
Either way, it seemed unnecessarily destructive and clearly not a trail most/if any would be able to navigate. Even after modifying the terrain by breaking rocks and stacking. In 100 years we'll all be dead and gone but the damage done is forever.
Maybe I spent too much time as a kid reading off-road magazines and taking the tread lightly approach way more seriously than most do. Maybe it's all the Dept of Conservation work I have done. I just don't get why anyone would want a trail over the top of that rock formation in such a beautiful setting. But hey.... it's not my land or my call so I'll not mention it again Rob. Thanks for clarifying.
I have now watched the first four episodes. Rover is out. Three Yotas and a Jeep left. They do no appear to be in an ORV park, or if they are, it's like 100 million acres. I think many rigs from our club could make the journey and working as a group most would make it everywhere the teams on the show have made it. It would be a great trip. Four rigs from the Southern Cruiser Club made a similar journey this summer. I don't know how it turned out yet.
I just watched the first episode but there is no way they would get a filming permit to do the kind of damage they did to public land. There are parts of Alaska that are pretty crazy, but if you stick to the more traveled routes, most any 4wd could make it.
Last episode, last hundred or so miles and it's on a solid road. The FJ55 is ripping down the road and a construction worker with a flag comes out and says stop... AND THEY DO! Fxxx that, I'd be ripping right by him for that $100,000!
