Question: How bad is the road salt (rust) situation here? I am not a stranger to that evil stuff, being from MN. I have seen some pretty rotted cars here. Call me a puss if you will, but I looked for my 80 for a long time. It is a southern truck. I do not want to road salt it.

I may have to pick up a beater Cruiser/Tacoma/Tundra for the winters here.

If you like your anything, BUY A BEATER!!!!

Going thru Mike's Express after a week on salty roads is like a hand job for your cruiser.

The difference between Indy and Chicago is we can spend an entire month and never get near above freezing. Its generally not a good idea to wash the car when the high is -2, doors have a funny way of not opening/closing/unlocking etc... before you even leave the car wash parking lot.

Although Mikes and nothing much can get rid of all the places road salt can creep to.

Road salt is no problem, just break your truck... really thoroughly... and "WORK ON IT" for years. Also included in this program is money savings on registration, tax, title, insurance (keep the battery out of the vehicle and it should be covered under your homeowner's insurance) then when you do get around to driving it again just make sure you put an aluminum tub on it (because the formerly steel one is 90% oxidized) and POR-15 the frame. You see, it's really not a problem at all.

Coming from the guy with the million dollar aqualu tub.....bastard!;)

They really are nice. I'm pretty picky about quality, fit, finish etc, and they're a lot nicer than they used to be. I started looking at them when they had the option for the 'non recessed' door & hardtop fitting, and that just wasn't doin' it for me. I'll let you drive it when I bring it to Attica. =)
