Howdy,

My family and I have just relocated to West Lafayette from NC. The wife accepted a professor position at Purdue. We are originally from MN and have been in NC for the last 10 years.

We were somewhat active in the Cruiser scene in NC. I have a 1996 FZJ80. It is my third Cruiser. First one was a 1989 FJ62 rustbucket from MN. Second was a 1964 FJ40 project that I wish I never sold. My graduation present to myself is my current FZJ80.

I am a water resources engineer by trade. I may likely find employment at Purdue as well. I am an avid firearms guy (shooting, reloading, tinkering), and love to do ALL of my own work on all of our cars. We have 2 boys, 4.5 and 2.5 years old, and another on the way.

I just wanted to drop a note introducing ourselves and look forward to meeting you at future events.

Thanks!

Robert, Sharon, Russell, and Willem

Welcome to Indiana. We have an event next weekend at the Badlands (less than an hour south of West Lafayette. Come on down and meet the group!

I won't be there, but there will be lots of other Cruiserheads.

Luke

Huhh. Use to live in Boone and I have cousins in Mt Pleasant.

As for the kids, well we don't have child labor laws in Indy so putting a wrench in their hands is going to be okay.:hillbilly:

As for the guns.......we're gunna get along real nice like.....

Welcome to IN. We'll see ya at the Badlands.

Welcome!:flipoff2:

I was borrn in Fayetteville (Fayettenam) and have lived in Laurenburg, Clinton, & Kernersville NC. But now I'm just a Hoosier Polak.

Hope to see you at the Hoe Down!

Huhh, I aint never lived anywhere but down here in SW Indiana.

But welcome, as stated above we are planing a weekend of trails, food, and campfire antics this coming weekend at Badlands Off Road Park. The park is in Attica,IN just southwest of you. The full story is in the thread titaled 'Hoosier Hoedown'.

This is a fun bunch of guys and gals, don't let some of the banter back and forth on here scare you, we really are some nice people to be around. Our runs are family friendly and are usually attended by all types of trucks from stock to extreme. The campfires do tend to be a little more adults only after dark with adult beverages and language, but very entertaining.

So again welcome to the wonderful state of Indiana and hope to meet you soon.
Mark

Thanks for the kind words. I have been lurking on this forum for a while and see that y'all are a pretty colorful group. I can handle the banter and can dish it pretty well myself:flipoff2:.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to make the Badlands trip next weekend. I have to go back to NC for a while to get the house ready for the market. The Cruiser is still down there as well as my beater car. So I have a couple more trips up here to make in the next month or so.

Take care.

Robert

Hello and Welcome!
I'm at school in Crawfordsville (about 30 miles South of W. Laf.). Hope to see you around.

Also, would anyone be up for a day at the badlands maybe a month from now? My sliders will be all done (all welds done up nicely, cleaned up, and powder-coated) in two weeks, and I was hoping to do a celebratory thing there. Since making/installing the sliders, is really first thing that I've done, anyone in the area let me know!

Howdy Arjun,

I was in Cville last week picking up a kiddie pool for the boys at a yard sale (all of the local stores were out for the season and the kiddie pools were the only items that didn't fit into the moving truck). Seems like a neat town, museum, theater, etc.

Hmmm, you made your own sliders.....wanna make another set?:flipoff2:

You break stuff all the time so you're kinda out. Luke is too scared to properly wheel his rig. 4Rnr is too busy watching movies to wheel. Tony is rigless. That leaves Goebs as the only wheeler I know.

Goebs has wheeled MAYBE 5 times in the past 5 years...so he is out! I took the DVD player out of my rig last month, so I win! :flipoff2:

Listen CopMunch, I'm not scared to wheel it- it is more capable than I am. It's just lost its allure for more.

In your estimation then you are incapable of wheeling your rig since since it is beyond your capabilities. Then what would you be afraid of? Is there a fear of the unknown with this current rig that you're not telling us? Are you able to see more better into the future with it? Are you more afraid of your lack of ability or your rigs over-ability to challenge you?

It didn't lose its allure Luke. You're just not ready to be in the big leagues of real wheeling.

Goebs isn't afraid of wheeling.

Well, It seems you forgot about the only redeeming quality about the "city" (with all the meth and other things that go on....). Wabash College!

Yes I did make the sliders, you may want to see them before you want a set. They are quite beefy, I used 3"X4" as the main slider... giving them a considerable amount of weight. I used slee's idea for the cat-guard, and the kick-outs are like Hanna-quality's. I'll post up pictures as soon as I can.

But if you do want a set, Brad at rock-star fabrication (whose workshop I used) can replicate them, since I left all my blueprints and specs there.

I need pics!

Welcome Robert to the clan. As you can see....no one's thread is sacred around here from being hijacked. You and I will get along well too since I also wheel an 80. There are I think about 4 or 5 between here and IL in the group. Check out our calendar. Redbird in October. At our annual meeting/tech day in January, we will bring out the firepower and do a little target practice. A very fun day. Good luck with the moving and we'll see you around.
