Have you thought about a metal wire screen to keep things in the back in case (god forbid) of a roll over? I'd sure hate to meet up with that axe at about the 3rd time over...

I've thought about having a metal barrier fabbed to keep things contained in the event of an accident. Fabbing up a simple barrier should be fairly cheap and being well-anchored could provide more points of attachment for stuff.
 
Those gauges look pretty nice!! How about a close up pic of that dash, nice truck and storage set up by the way!!

Autometer vacuum, oil, water, volts. The pair down low go along with the second alternator and battery and cover amps and volts. Gauge mount on the dash was constructed from the underlying metal of an old FJ60 dash. Not the best craftsmanship but it works. GPS is good for recording actual distance traveled as my odometer is a bit off, plus nailing down lat-longs or returning to study sites.
