It snowed on Tuesday. 29 April.

So we left the house about 7ish on Wednesday morning (I live near Barnes and Peterson) and the roads are clear. It's cold but no big deal. Get to Woodman Rd and I get stuck on ice going up the hill at the Black Forest Rd intersection. Back down the hill. Turn right on Black Forest. More ice. Screwed. Turn into a driveway and the man who lived there let us drop the trailer. So at this point I'm debating whether I will get to Moab or even go at all.

Wait 2 hrs and now the roads are fine. Pick up the trailer. Head to Moab via HWY 50 to Grand Junction.

Get into the area and find a campsite off of HWY 313. Nice and quiet. No showers but we made do with some solar shower bags and it all worked out great.

Thursday morning we tech and sign in at the registration tent. We ran Fins n Things. Nice trail and got us use to the slick rock idea. So much traction! Lots of ups and down. Optional obstacles to try. The group was a lot of newbies so it was run really slow. Forgot the camera this day, so no pics.

Friday was Hell's Revenge. Fun trail. Good optional stuff and good mix of vehicles. Trail was led by Dan from Rising Sun. Nice guy and really good group. I would definitely run it again. Didn't attempt the Escalator or Hell's Gate, only because nobody had done it, and nobody felt comfortable spotting it.

Saturday was Kane Creek Canyon. I expected this trail to be really mellow. But it was a blast. It runs through the canyon, over and through the creek, with a couple obstacles. My truck is pinstriped like crazy but it was well worth it. There is one section coming up out of the canyon that got me in a bind. Nothing my lockers and good spotting couldn't take care of though. It was a tad scary and the wife had to look away. It's hard to tell in the pics, but there's a drop on driver side.

So after that, we load up, head home, break down, yadda yadda yadda.

But I got everything back home! Time to clean it up and get ready for the next run!

I would definitely head back again. Probably for a longer length of time, and space trail rides out accordingly. 3 days in a row was a bit much, but still fun. Hopefully I'll be able to get back out there again, no matter where I am.

Glad to see you made it home. Awesome pics. REALLY want to get out to Moab. Looks like you guys had a great time.

It was awesome seeing so many different rigs. 40s, 45s, 60s, 80s, 100s. There were even a couple guys from Alberta down with their turbo diesel Hilux's on Hell's Revenge. Right hand drive at that!

Thank you for posting pics. I am planning on going in October sometime and I am not sure if I will take the fj or the jeep. I don't think I will be doing any crazy trails as the wife wants more scenery then rock crawling. I think we need to get a group together next year for cruise Moab and one for the rubicon trail as well. Just some thoughts I have been having.

Turbo Diesel Hilux's! The MUD needs a drool emoticon.

Next years Moab....count me in. :steer:

Rubicon....I better get to work on the 55.... :wrench:

She takes nice pictures because she gets sick of riding in the truck with me. And hates the hard/scary/tippy parts lol.

If there's interest in a trip late September or early October I would be up for that. Probably sans wife. Wouldn't mind heading back there again.

I would definitely rather go when there are no crowds. It's cool seeing all the different rigs, but I'm pretty impatient. Lol. I guess Cruise Moab might not be bad, probably not as busy as Easter Jeep Safari.

We had 3 really different groups at cruise Moab. Fins was slow with lots of newer/scared drivers. It took a long time. Hells was much faster moving with more experienced drivers. Kane was the fastest. And all the runs had like 16 rigs.

A smaller group would be more fun though. None of these trails took as long as the Chinaman run lol

The only reason Chinaman took so long was because I had to change my diaper everytime we turned a corner and I got too 'fraid...
