Yeah it is. Diagnostic code gave me the 31 or "RESUME/ACCEL switch is ON always when MAIN swict is pushed ON".So according to BE-74 it is either my Control switch or my CC ECU. On BE-79 it says how to test the switch but I could not figure out how to get the switch out. ANd BE-87 was less than helpful in explaining how to remove the switch. So...guess I do kind of know what is wrong, just dont know how to prove it. :)

1) You *might* get lucky by spraying some contact cleaner on the base of the stalk/control arm (where the actual switches are).

2) It's easy to take the whole "combination switch" (cruise, lights, wipers,...) off; basically pull the steering wheel, unplug, and lift it off the steering column. Then you should easily be able to test whichever pins on the harness are for the CC. Then...

3) *IF* the switch indeed tests bad, it's kind of tricky to separate a single switch (such as the CC) and it's pin connectors from the rest of them, but at least you're just doing it on the bench rather than in the vehicle. Or (a bit more expensively, of course) you can just replace the whole combo. switch, in which case replacement is plug-and-play.

What if I just buy a stick and wedge it between the gas pedal and the floor? My automatic safety cut-off could be a string around the stick that is tied to my hand. So when I am about to run into something and I put my hands over my eyes it pulls the stick and I slow down!? I am brilliant!
