They also have a Superwinch 8500 for $329, slightly better Chinese product than the cheap Chinese products.
Be careful, normal sale price is about $52. But that was last time. I don't trust these Black Friday sales.

I showed the ad to my parts place, that price is actually a little below their cost on 18.9L containers and way below their cost on 5L containers. Canadian Tire buys oil by the train load, when it goes on sale no one can compete with that price. Worth stocking up. I bought one jug and am wondering if I should get another ....not like oil is going to go down in price at this rate.
Standard price at Walmart in Bellingham is $65 a bucket and sometimes down to $50 a bucket on sale. I never buy oil in Canada unless it is on sale at a real good price.
With the value of crude about half of what it was over a year ago, you'd think the price of refined oils would drop proportionately. I know, that's naive. Just like with the cost of diesel still way up there. Oh ya, i know it is heating oil season and so many people are still burning heating oil these days.

I've always wondered if an investigative reporter would be able to take this on. But I have neither the time nor the energy to start and follow through with something like that right now. So if you are looking for something to do...Contact Steele on Your Side, give all the arguments and quantify it with the statement that you would like to see if your beliefs can be verified. Or perhaps start a thread here asking for the logic of why diesel should be at the same ratio to gasoline that it is in the rest of the world. Then compile and submit that to Steele on Your Side for refuting or verification.

Canadian industry and policy makers don't like competition - America embraces competition and Americans reap the reward with lower prices. What Canadian industry does not seem to understand when faced with lower prices, consumers will buy more crap and suppliers can make way more on volume than unit price.
In Canukistan most of our industries are monopolies, oligopolies or gov't regulated or protected from competition - look at Air Canada (would not survive in a competitive environment - offers sub-standand service), dairy industry, our ports, car industry, tools, communication industry -all protected from competition in various ways by the Federal gov't - this systemic protection encourages inefficiency, complacency higher supply costs and inevitably higher Canadian consumer prices. Only a few Canadians (e.g. Cruiserheads) who live near the border realize how bad. My latest example is I wanted a 10" deep SS sink for my shop so the cheapest I could find from 5 supplies I contacted here in Canada $300 - I bought one in the US for $109 USD. Another classic example of federal complacency is Verizon tried to come to Canada to help us poor ripped off Canadian cell customers and Bell, Telus and Rogers get together scared them off and our gutless federal gov't stood by and let it happen!! !

I don't have the time or energy to do it. During the last big spike I was getting Castro Tection at Western Star at about $50 a bucket. (That was $12 under Walmart Canada's price) Then it went to $60 and then to $72. I was told the price increases to $72 was because of crude oil prices. The first jump was because the initial price was them enabling them to buy market share when they introduced it to Western Star Dealerships.
It is just easier for me to pick up a bucket or two when I am across the border. Independent Truckers do the same. I am sure fleet operators are paying far less than $50 a bucket. It is up to their retailers to tell their suppliers. Customers speak with their feet.
