Hello all, I am new to ih8mud, though have been lurking for a couple weeks. Seems y'all have a great site here. I have a 1980 Toyota pickup, pretty much stock. It does have a weber 38 carb, 35" tires, w56 tranny out of an '85 runner, fror t case mount, and several other little doo-dads that I've put on it. The only thing that came on it is the weber. This is the first carbed vehicle I have owned, and with some minor mods, the weber has performed well.

Anyway on to my problem....

I am getting a lot of oil out of the crankcase vent. A buddy of mine runs the same engine on a race car, and doesn't seem to have nearly as much as I do. I tried T-ing it into the pcv valve line, but it just soaked my air cleaner / carb in oil. I also tried running severel loops of fuel line, to try to catch as much oil as I could on the walls. Still get oil spraying out. Is this normal? Does it mean excessive blow-by in my cylinders? Is there something I can do to eliminate it? I haven't been able to pressure test it. I don't have the tools. I did have the head off a while back, and the cylinder walls looked ok. Any help is greatly appreciated.

The obligatory show-off pic. :D

The coils I put in. I believe there are 3.

The PCV is supposed to be hooked up to manifold vacuum. It looks like yours is hooked up to the air cleaner. That means it will build up pressure at idle. Is the PCV valve working properly? It might be stuck closed. If the system is working properly then the problem usually lies in excessive blowby from worn piston rings. Try a compression test. Dry then wet. Good luck...
