Wife drives the LX with 275,000 miles, so the possibility of the "dreaded phone call" is always on the table. Well, today, it came in. She went to start the car, it cranked for a few seconds, sputtered and died. She described it sputtering and clunking - I figured maybe timing belt or something... I called AAA for her to get it towed to the mechanic's shop. Timing belt isn't something I'm willing to take up. And I don't have the luxury of time to try to troubleshoot it in my driveway.
While the tow truck was on its way, I left work to go look at it myself. I tried to start it and it sounded normal, except it would sputter instead of staying on.....then I looked at the fuel gauge....
Long story short, I asked the AAA guy to get me some gas before we go towing the car to the mechanic, and lo and behold, after a few gallons of gas, she started right up.
