Hi All,
My LC just cut off while running on the road after about a 4 hr trip.
-It's a 2001 with alittle over 200k miles
-I have checked battery and fuses (and the grounds that I have found thus far)
-Tried the EFI jumper ideas and all from previous threads to no avail
-Crank but no start
-Immobilizer flashes with and without key
-No communication with OB2 reader
-When it rains hard I have gotten some water on the floor boards at times so I need to find and fix that also but when looking for any corrosion around the ECU or other I have found none. The ECU and wires/harnesses looks fine but...

What are your thoughts? Something else I should check first or is it time for me to try a replacement ECU even though the current one looks fine?
If so who/where is the best option to get a good flashed/virginized ECU from? Part#89666-60360

Also thanks everyone for making this such a great forum!

Could your key have lost programming somehow? I had to put a new ignition cylinder in my 2000 Land Cruiser and that’s exactly what it would do with the keys that came with it. The dealer tried to program the keys for me, but they were unable to do so because of a technical issue that Toyota has acknowledged with the 2000. They gave me a copy of the service bulletin from Toyota, which listed several locksmith who could reprogram the ECU for me that were qualified by Toyota. Thankfully one of them was fairly close in the Atlanta area and he was able to get it done. He had to remove my ECU and reprogram it. Only cost me $200.

In case you’re interested here is a copy of the service bulletin the dealer gave me.

If the immobilizer light is flashing even with a known good key, that's where you should start. Try another key, jump the EFI fuse straight to the battery.
Thanks for your reply.
I have tried to jump the EFI fuse and Relay straight from the battery, and it did not work, unfortunately.
I do not have another key, unfortunately. Only the one. I could look into getting another, I guess.
If it were just the key, would the OB2 reader at least communicate though? I am getting no communication, which led me to think even more so about damage to the ECU.

Thanks for sending this over.
I will reach out to a locksmith on this list and see what they think.
I guess it is possible that my key lost programming somehow. I will certainly will look into it as well.
When this happened to you, did you also have no communication with the OB2 reader?

I would reach out to Darryl Geller in Cumming, GA on the list. He did mine and is very knowledgable on LC’s. You can probably pick his brain and he may have some good insight. If there is a problem with your ECU I know you can ship them to him.

I never checked my OB2 reader as I knew my issue was related to my keys needing to be programmed to my vehicle. My guess is Darryl can probably get you pointed in the right direction.
