For $500 it doesn't look that bad. Top is worth that much. Frames seem to be available (if it needed one).

nah, goin for simple this time. just a bj42. found one with quite possibly the worst tub I've ever seen...no fenderwells, no rear deck, just plywood with carpet over it...

was fun driving around the back field in it...kinda worried the drivers seat was going to fall into the tire...

But, the frames good, and it came with an earlier 40 tub that's in much better shape, and an extra hardtop, and some spare 42 h/t sides.

Tub needs rear sill and some patches on the skins, but the inside is good. I'll just have to f around with getting the older tub on the 42 frame, and a different fuel tank.

then I'll probably chuck a soft top on it, and work on the hard top and doors later.

I'll do a thread on it once I get a free day to work on it... should go pretty quick.;)

Seems like you're going full circle.

Hey, I've got an idea... Why don't you turn it into a 45 when you start to get bored with it :D

duuuude...that's sooo 5 years ago....:flipoff2:

and hey, that 45 rocked....it just turned into a money pit, all I saw when I looked at it was money I'd spent.

this ones stayin' cheap and simple.

I'm just enjoying fxxxin around with a 40 again, it's like chicken soup...messed with them for so long I remember where all the bolts and wires are...it's kinda relaxing compared to modern s***.

I didn't want to hog the spotlight.
:D

You forgot to mention the part about as soon as you finish it and it is too sweet to take into the bush to wheel you will sell it and start another one. :D

again, m-o-n-e-y pit...:flipoff2:

I'd had my old 40 for almost 10 years, and then that 70 fell in my lap, it was a bit nicer for commuting, and the 40 wasn't getting driven, so I figgered I'd play a bit.

building the 45 was fun, but ended up costing too much, dogs didn't like it, loud as fxxx, a bit of a spectacle on the road, and I was feeling rather impoverished, so after a year, I sold it.

building the rover was fun too, but, in the end... I didn't want to be associated with some of the dickheads I'd met with rovers as much as anything else...

there's a pattern emerging I know...

and wtf, are you guys seriously trying to apply logic and rational thinking to the motives one has for messing with antiquated rusty ass toyotas? :flipoff2:

and now, I'm gonna go make a build thread for my 42, and you fawkers arent invited.....:flipoff2::lol::lol::beer:
