Anyone here been up there recently to confirm? This would really suck!!!
I highly doubt they would divert the river. It sounds more like they added a layer of bedrock raising the river floor. Either way it's lame.
I was up there a month ago and the 3rd crossing was normal - just to the bottom of my doors at the deepest spot. The river has changed course and now flows along a portion of the trail shortly before the 3rd crossing but the trail itself was in the same place. The rock garden is still essentially "paved" in equal sized rocks.
Sounds like they did something in the past month. Probably moved the trail rather than fill in the river crossing.

Interesting that the OP noted the changes but took no photos? I will be out there in December and definitely take a few pics..

Went out there a couple weeks ago and yes, i was very disappointed to see that you can no longer drive through the narrow, deep spot thru the trees. They blocked that section off and have you cross just beyond where you used to. Also, the rocky hill could be done easily in a Jeep Compass.
I saw updated pics in the original thread that was linked. Kinda sad in what the State Park officials did to the third crossing.
This is rediculous. F**K CA Parks and Rec!
