SEND PICS OF THE REAR!!!!!!!! I need a rear bumper and cannot wait much longer!

Sorry.... I know I said I should have pics by the end of the week. On Tuesday I changed my mind on the design which was mostly plate. It was becoming too much for what its going on... It would have been pricey. I redesigned it out of 6x2 and 5x2 tubing for the main section and wings. don't get me wrong its not gonna be boxy or plain. it will be very strong as I need mine to pull a trailer. Better than stock clearance. The corners are swept up. The bottoms of the wings taper under. I don't have any pics yet. I'm just getting in. I ordered the new steel Tuesday but it has been raining since friggin Monday and they don't deliver steel in the rain. So I drove 2 hours to get it today myself and tarped it to bring it home. I worked on it the rest of the afternoon under a tent.(truck doesn't fit in garage) and basically got the main bumper designed and mostly tacked up. I wont be able to work on it tomorrow (family time). but will be back to it sunday evenening ang ALL next week. But should have the main bumper done Monday afternoon. I'm still trying to decide on what I want to use for the swingouts?? as far as spindles or bushings or I might use double heims joints... Sorry again for the delay!

Take your time man. Been raining for a week straight out here in the desert too...thought I left all that out in MA when I moved.
Can't wait to the see what you come up with.

Thanks man. Appreciated. I'm actually up now forging flowers for my wife. Lol. Couldn't sleep thinking about the bumper. Just gotta hammer the stem and put the leaves on. Maybe tigged thorns.

Here is a shot until tomorrow... I need to get the upper filler plate material that goes across the bottom of the tailgate area and cut the pieces of plate that go under the bottom sides of the bumper. And I need to cut and machine the 3/4" thick plate for the shackle mounts, plus cut in the trailer hitch. Then the swingouts...

Oh I like it....

I was thinking of fabricating a securable metal box where the spare tire used to go, once I buy your bumper. Have you thought about those? Something to lock your things in, out of site at the trailhead.

you know that's funny... I was thinking about a compartment behind the main section with a flip up door once I saw how much space is there after cutting out the cross member..... if anything it maybe could be an option for those that don't want to keep their tire under or have long range tanks. I might try it on mine. would be a nice spot to keep extra winch line or recovery gear. unless you get stuck and cant open the swingouts...

So you have to cut out the rear crossmember? Does it leave enough space for the spare underneath still as some others like the 4x4labs don't.

I was thinking of that too as I've gotten a couple requests for just a bumper and no swingouts. They also run the tire under. I need to get a couple measurements from a truck with a tire under there as the p.o. took the one off my truck before I got it.
What size tire do you run?

Rich,

Let me know what measurements you need. I will be taking the stock bumper off of Andrea's 80 on Thur/Friday and it still has the stock spare location.

Pics... whatever just let me know.

285/75/16 or nearly a 33". I think slightly larger can still fit in the factory location. Mine comes back to just at the round bar that is just ahead of the rear crossmember. I'm kind of surprised you went this direction, for a tighter fit/departure?

Thanks Jason! I'll let you know if I need anything. I think what jeffro109 said is what I needed. Just wanted to know how far I can come under or into the truck with the receiver stuff and not interfere with the spare.
