Mox,

I fail to understand your question? Basically you're asking if it's OK to use hub centric wheels on a vehicle designed for hub centric wheels, right? Um.......wait, I know this one.............um............ - YES!

actually I meant the fj was hub centric and the rock crawlers were lug centric.

I believe that LC's are lug centric and not hub centric. this is why your lugs are tapered.

I also believe this is true.

I am in the market for a new set of wheels ( OE wheels are very badly corroded) and wanted to try a hub centric wheel to help with balance issues.

Any comments?

Stock offset is 0mm with 8" wheels.
-12mm offset with 9" wheels.
That link is a good source.

Bump on an old thread. I've always assumed a 0mm offset. I no longer have my 80, but I'm reading in several places the offset was 14mm for US market?? Toyota Land Cruiser 1994 - Wheel & Tire Sizes, PCD, Offset and Rims specs Of course everywhere else is listed at ET0. From where would this ET14 reference come?
Information online is confusing.
Just take one wheel off and measure the backspacing, then figure the offset based in the below table.

I believe the 16 x 8 ROH steel wheels (called 'Blak Trak' - just the black version of the white sunraysia style 'Trak 2') on my 80 are -13 offset. I do not know what the offset of Toyota factory 16 x 8 wheels is but presumably the same.

I can't speak for the rest of the world, but in the U.S. the stock 16x8" wheels have 0 offset. I've never seen or heard of a 9" wide wheel here.

Let's do remember that the question was asked over two and a half years ago; I think he's got his answer by now.
