corner marker light, drop in dual filiment sockets

The 1986-87 Celica socket is discontinued. The 1988-89 is still available but the catalog does not show it to have a wire lead off the back. It appears that it is a socket only and the vehicle harness plugs into the back of the socket.

well I was suppose to be done with this today, but ran into a snafu putting it together, who knew there would be 2 different types of waterproof 2.3mm terminals. Wiring harness repair manual says they are the same.

I've got to do this mod, so I'm looking for some closure here on the parts. I don't have any junk yards anywhere near me, so unless someone would be so kind to send me some of the sockets from a junk yard near you
, I'll need to be calling CDan with the list. FYI, I'm gonna utilize the front left turn signal location for a fresh air intake port, and 'maybe' use the drivers side for the transmission cooler, or oil cooler...

NVR ENUF, how did you get the side (fender) signal lights to fit by drilling a round hole? I have the same crystal side lights from Mot and have yet to install them. It appears that the hole required a rectangle hole with flat top and bottom for the light to stay in place. MORE PICTURES OF THE HOLE PLEASE 
Back to the 1157 topic. I have a whole bunch of different Toyota 1157 sockets from my last junk yard trip. The gray colored 1157 sockets from the front of various Toyota models (IIRC, mine were from an early 90's Corolla) was a direct fit as shown by RavenTai. An easier alternative to source is to use a standard black Toyota 1157 socket, which is used in almost all the Toyota rear tail/stop lights, including the LC80's stop/tail light. Using the black Toyota 1157 socket would require trimming the light housing a bit as one of the three tabs on the black light socket has a different offset than the gray 1157 socket.
I can post picture of the different Toyota 1157 sockets this weekend as I am travelling this week. Bump this thread to the top and I'll remember to post the pictures this weekend.

I didn't get mine from Mot. I picked up an easy-to-install universal marker. I'd like to resurrect this thread. Did anyone come to a conclusion of which set of parts made up the complete list to order, as well as a clean and waterproof method of tying into the OEM signals?
I'm very eager to take this approach of using the dual filament grey 1157 sockets. The reason being that I need the space to drill a 1inch hole and pop in a hideaway strobe light (type rubber gasket seal). Once popped in, there's only an 1/8th of an inch protruding from the light's side, and the wires will fold over very easily without any apparent undue stress. From the pics I've seen in the threads where the 90° socket was added in (the ol' 2 monofilament bulb approach), I should make my clearances without problem.
So, back to the list.... the shopping list that is that best capitalizes on the grey 1157 sockets. Anyone have any updates?

I have a bag full of Toyota wiring from the junk yard, have not got a chance to mess with it,
I do know it is possible but I may have to cannibalise the stub harness for the front turn signals, the short part that runs from the plug to the socket,

Is there a y-splitter harness that could be inserted between the oem harness and the light plug at the stock turn signal plugs? That'd allow a new run to be added inline with out cutting into it.

Seriously Rav, how much can one man do?
For the rest of youse guys that have done this mod, have any of you documented your project with photos, or have archived the wiring sequence in a drawing or the like?
Personally, I'm digging the config of:
1) Swapping out 1157's in the side markers for dual role purpose (parking lamp & blinker).
2) Trying to fit a similar dual filament plug into the ARB amber lights, to maintain a front low level parking lamp and blinker, the latter wired up to the corner light in "disco mode".
3) I'd REALLY love to swap out the OEM blink light (the one sitting below the headlamps) for a driving or fog light! Neat stealth placement with great alignment of beam focus. Has anyone ever seen anything that could be dropped in place for this purpose?
4) and Finally get those damn hideaway strobes into the front corner and rear light housings. This will give me great visibility on all corners when pulled over on scene of an accident or what not (luck has it its usually very busy with zero shoulder, no street lighting and limited visibility due to curve or hill). I may very well tie them into the OEM hazards as a trigger to the strobe's powerpack. Shouldn't be that hard to do.
Now.... if i can just get all the final pieces together. This project has been an A.D.D. nightmare.

I still think that's the main idea. The only change at least from my perspective is to maintain the corner parking lamp and the ARB light as both constant and blinking.

I'm a newbie with the 80 series as of 3/1, and have not received my factory manuals yet so please bear with me. Is it not possible to convert the corner parking light into a blinker by using a method shown on Daniel Stern's site, found here, by simply removing the corner marker ground wire and attaching to the blinker pulsed hot? Or is the 80's marker/blinker ground/power setup completely different?
I admit I have not looked into this for my '60 or '40 and those FSMs are currently packed away as I prepare for a job relocation, so forgive me if I'm unaware of something on Toyota's that will not allow this mod.

Did you ever sort out the difference between those 2 style connectors?
I just got off the phone with my local toyota parts guy and confirmed that their system shows no difference in price or description, nor has any pictures for the following parts that are ALL called the same thing:
82998-12420 - repair terminal - special order $7.54 ea.
82998-12440 - repair terminal - special order $7.54 ea. (supposedly the small)
82998-12480 - repair terminal - special order $7.54 ea. (supposedly the large)
Does anyone have pics that we could see the difference between these?
You know, Romer...it'd be nice if we started archiving pics of all the parts people have posted (atleast going forward) in a "80-Series Parts FAQ". (slap me if there's already one). I know this would be very helpful for those searching to identify parts or get an image of what they need to look for, FWIW.
Additional info:
90980-09151 - packing terminal - $2.47 ea (waterproof seal the wire goes thru)
90980-09152 - packing terminal - $2.17 ea (waterproof seal - plug)
Also, the 4th Gen Celica 1157/Dual Filament-type bulb socket.....
81615-24020 - $25.41 ea. - I'm told the same part number used from '86-'89.
Did anyone ever confirm if they've seen this part with only 2 wires instead of 3?
Last question: What's the GM equivalent part number that fits into the OEM marker's hole without any trimming (if there is such a thing)? I've seen 2 90degree GM 1157 sockets at AdvanceAutoParts, but not sure which'll fit.
