Been shopping for a 200 series for a few weeks now - man is it hard to find clean examples that haven't been neglected.
Seems transmission d&fs are alien to lx 570 owners....

Anyways found one down south that checks out (ahc every 60k, tranny d&f at 60k and 100k, diffs and t-case flushed frequently), but the only hair in the soup is that coolant wasn't changed until about 150k. They replaced with a new radiator at the same time so there's that.

I've been going a ton of research on the shortcomings with this engine and overdue coolant seems to be a big one - especially considering these early v8s like to blow head gaskets.

They put on about 50k and 4 years since the coolant flush so there's that.
Planning to do a block test with the ppi but wanted to get your guys' opinions.

Thanks!

Not trying to muddy the water even more but my 2013 got the coolant swapped on schedule and still popped a HG without ever being run hot. Conversely many others here haven’t had an issue at all.

I understand this doesn’t help much.. but I bring it up to demonstrate this is a complex issue and it’s difficult to really get a bead on the risk vs reward here.

Seems like there is no real downside to doing the coolant every 30k-60k miles but agreed that this is not a proven preventative measure when it comes to HG issues.
