Who would you use to fix the electric window on a FZJ-80 were you not going to fix it yourself?

For those of you that never go to Pirate.

This guy Don works with Georg at Valley Hybrids and is one of the most talented fabricators I know. It is fun to watch him build a Cruiser.

Who would you use to fix the electric window on a FZJ-80 were you not going to fix it yourself?

What's not working? it's rarely the regulator... If slow then needs new rubber guides... if not working then needs the switch contacts cleaned... just use a grit sandpaper... most 80's need botht the above things done.

This cold weather will make the 80's window not even work if you have old guides

just rev the motor while rolling it up.

If it was mine, I would take it to Pat.

This one is my nephew's and I want to send them somewhere to get it fixed. Any recommendations?

It has always been crazy slow, but now it is stuck completely and won't go up or down.

I may have them take it to Pat, but he already has a couple of projects going for me right now.

Don't know Pat... but i do know folks who've taken this issue to "yota" guru's... and even when replacing the regulator, it obviously needed the contacts cleaned and the guides replaced.... make sure whoever gets it... does those two things first... even cleaning the guides and as well as switch contacts does a good job before the guides can arrive to be replaced...

Other than seeing the switch on the dash, the easiest way to find out if it has lockers is to look at the door tag (driver's door) K292 = no lockers. K294 = lockers

David, looking at your swing-out ( I dig that thing) i think it's shaking because it's only held by two bolts to the center section... I wonder if the bottom bar was welded to the center tow point if that would increase the rigid-ness... just a thought.

Good thought. I don't know if you saw it the other night, but there are also two more bolts holding the underside of the carrier to the bumper about half way between the center section and the pivot. That being said, it certainly would be stronger to weld it all together (and there's no real reason NOT to)
