This is for the average politically incorrect backyard chef.
The following is based on the S.W.A.G. Theoretics. Parental discretion is advised.

I have shared a few recipes, and many others have posted much more than I, this is an attempt to clarify the many differences the many of us use when we are "Cooking from the Hip"
I will try to define the terms as I know them. Some are open to interpretation, and others speak for themselves.

Please feel free to include your suggestions and or corrections.

SPLAT - equal to a drop, but under force, as in shaking a bottle of Hot Sauce.

SPLOT - is a dab or a dollop, launched from a distance.

SPOONFULL - this is a basis of measurement using a serving size spoon, not a sissy little tsp.

SPLOOGE - is usually 3 or more times the volume of a SPLOT. It has been known to cover most of a ham or flank, and indicates a large volume with sporadic coverage.

SHOT - a generic term used in many ways, and open to interpretation. usually a rough reference to 1 floz. the approximate volume of a girls belly button if Jello is involved.

SHI7 LOAD - is based on proportion, used as an exaggeration, and can be cross referenced with Butt Load, or an A$$ LOAD.

GETTIN' SOME ACTION - refers to a marinade, or a home brewers term for fermentation. also used by us senior citizens in reference to a shot of prune juice.

SPLORT - unclear, but reminds me of a commercial of a grandma trying to squeeze the last bit of ketchup from a plastic bottle. this usually elicits laughter from kids under 12, and most grown men.

WFM or TT. Works for me or to taste (to my taste). Translation: I like it so deal with it or GTFO.

In premise, I agree, if you need measurements, you''re not cooking, you're following directions.

The exception is baking which IMHO is more akin to chemistry than cooking.

A Slathering
Add this to the list
Reminds me of a story of when I was almost forcibly removed from a Saloon for Trolling for Hogs.
But then again that is another story.

Why is it when I hear the word "dollop" ala the Daisy sour cream commercial I want to punch my TV?

It is good advertising and product placement. Irritate you just enough to have the music stick in your head.
