Space maximization is not why anyone would buy an LC/LX. If you want nice packaging in an SUV buy a Highlander and if you crave even more efficiency get a Sienna.

Here I'll give you the only real issue I see with the LC:

No 40 gallon fuel tank :D

^ haha, yeah I'm not overly impressed with its range.

One primary reason I'm leaning on the 200 vs a 100 is the towing ability. I like that I can flat-bed my 77. Does anyone have experience towing >6500lbs? I imagine it's not perfect, but the infrequent need I assume it gets the job done?

So I'm going to leave my 77 with the dealer and take the 200 for an extended test drive. During that time any advise on what I should look for?

When I test drove my LC, I took it on gravel and mud to see what its capabilities were. Two car washes couldn't clean up the amount of muck I got on the bottom. I did have issues with the ECU when I test drove mine, it drove like a granny. We had to unplug the battery a few times and I had to beat on the vehicle in order to get the shift patterns I liked. Haven't had that issue in 6 months of ownership.

Sounds fun, but I doubt I'll be testing it's capabilities in that manner if I don't own the truck.

Coming from a 77, probably not going to be an issue, but if it seems slow, Reckless is correct. The ECU and TBW (throttle by wire) work together to figure out how you drive and respond appropriately. If you normally poke around in 200, it won't give you maximum throttle unless you really work it. After driving it like an escaped convict, it will liberalize the throttle and you will see it flat out fly.

That's good to know, I presume that accounts for my 19.7mpg for the 10 miles mixed driving to my house :)

Definitely haha. There's a guy on ExpoPortal that had CBI build him an aux tank for his 200. I've been trying to get in touch with him or CBI to see about it's availability. It looks like a transfer flow type but I'd be game for any extended range tank.

So I hate to say this, but we both loved it. The touch screen sucks, cup holders suck and the interior rear view mirror rattles. Otherwise it's solid. The salesman said one other person has shown interest. So we'll see. I'm going to sit on it for a week and discuss further with the wife.

I see the Y-Plate, where were you stationed? I was in Okinawa (Kadena) for 4 years.
Same, and same. When we're you there. Just left in august.

From '02 - '04 and '12 - '14. Good times on that island the first time, Gate 2, races on Ikei, boozing all night at Okuma. The second time, not so much for reasons I'm sure you're aware of. I'd still do awful things for some level 7 chicken katsu at Cocos though.

Haha yes. I liked level 6 pork cutlet. I went up to 10, but it all tasted the same past 8. Where did you work, we may have seen each other?

If you're a diver, probably not. Unless you responded to the big flood at the munitions gate a couple of years ago where the local national gate guard almost drowned. I work ammo, in the bomb dump. You might have known the Major I worked with, he was a popular diver on the island. I can't remember his name, he retired while I was there and I think stayed.

Only thing that hasn't been brought up in the cons of the 200 Series is size.

If you like in an area with tight trails you're going to have a bad time.

I want a 2hundo *so* damn bad but I can't justify the width. Even my FJC gives me fits at times.

Everyone has a thing for Tacoma's, there are a few videos on here of them on the Rubicon. Here are some interesting measurements with an Access Cab Tacoma (not the largest btw)

Tacoma

Wheelbase: 127.8
Length 208.1
Width: 74.7

200 Land Cruiser

Wheelbase 112.2
Length: 194.9
Width: 77.6

So yeah wider but 3 inches isn't huge for what package you're getting.

hah, I was just typing up a similar post... Funny when I wheel with a mix of rigs at the start of the trail they say that thing is too big, by the end of the trail they are saying well of course you made it through no prob, look how small your rig is:) (i.e. short, small wheelbase etc) and of course the turn assist makes it feel even smaller!

This wouldn't get too crazy build-wise. I'd level it, go bigger on tires/smaller on rims, sliders, dual batt and rear locker (likely air). It wouldnt do more then White Rim type trails and easy day camp trips. If I expect it to tow my 70, I can't swamp it down with a bunch of gear.

Not me. I worked the air Evacuation squadron
