Friends,

I'm currently shopping around for a 200 LC & I came across a 2015 with just over 100K miles locally. I've checked out the car & the only fault I came across is that the navigation screen is not lighting up. When the car is running and I touch the screen, I hear a beep, but thats it. Reverse camera does not work either when the car is in reverse.

I know the screen itself has power because of the beep, is the LCD a common faulty issue? Any idea what the fix is or how costly it can be? I'm not afraid of bargaining a lower price in order to fix it on my terms, I'd like to know more about what I may be getting myself into.

Thanks in advance

Could be a very expensive repair. If it were simple, one would expect the seller to fix it before offering it for sale. I'd steer clear and keep looking.

HTH

I would simply say "call me when you get this fixed". If the seller is not willing to fix it, then that is your answer.

Well...here's additional background on my situation. I'm a wholesaler & the LC is running through the auction. The only guarantee I'm getting is on powertrain & frame. Thats why I'm seeking additional knowledge on this matter.

This is a car that I plan on keeping for myself to use as a daily to replace my 04 LX470.

That screen is something like $6k+ if you have to buy new. You may find a pulled unit from salvage, but it’s a long shot unless you have a line on something like that.

It’s literally cheaper to replace the engine and transmission than the rear DVD and head unit in the 13-15 LC’s.

$6K?! No kidding?! I figured worst case it may be a laborious repair at a modest cost.

Pretty depressing considering its a vehicle in the color combination I'm seeking & given its higher miles, it'll fall into my budget.

But just out of curiosity, I haven't been able to find anyone else on with a similar issue, is this a rare occurrence?

Hopefully very rare!

UPDATE: Checked out the car again today. The screen worked for about 10-15 minutes & then it shut off again. So, I did see it fire up & I went through all of the functions just fine, but when it drove up on the block, the screen was off. When I touched it, I would hear beeping, so it did respond to my touch.

Sales manager told me its an intermittent issue & he couldn't find a shop to repair it. So he opted to sell it at auction as-is.

Funny thing, with the right tools it takes 5-10 min to remove/replace. The parts for the dvd and nav are criminally expensive. You don’t want to be replacing any of that.

Go figure

Flood car?
I suspected that, but found no evidence of flood damage. I forgot to check if the car still had the original windshield or not. I know some peeps have talked about water damage occurring in cars with replaced windshields.
