its an 86. 4x4. drivers door is jacked, but can be bondo'd. Body is good otherwise. rust free Colorado truck. no seats or carpet. runs good. has what I really want- the R series trans :grinpimp:

I think $800 is a good deal, yeah??

Yup, that's a good price. The tranny is worth close to that alone. I bought a non-running '87 Turbo back in 12/06 for $700, with a badly blown HG. The cab and frame were junk, it folded in half while I was tearing it apart. I sold the engine and wiring for $350, various other parts, basically ended up with a free R151F.

Thankfully I kept the alternator, as the POS reman'd one I bought at Canadian Tire 2 summers ago died on me yesterday. It's down soaking in a tub of parts cleaner right now.

Cool. Im thinking of jackin the trans out of it, and slappin er in my meatmobile. then putting a G58 in the turbo truck.

I dont know what I have in store for the engine, if I dont slap the G58 in there

A G-series tranny probably won't last long behind a turbo.

I thought long and hard about swapping the 22RTE into my truck, the coolness factor etc. Did a bunch of research, reading, chatting... decided it wasn't worth the trouble. They can get very expensive to keep reliable. So I sold the entire package to a guy that was gonna drop it into his old Celica.

Figured I'd go the 3.4L route. But now that all the early Tacomas are getting shredded, that's probably not gonna happen either.

getting shredded? whats going on there... havnt heard of this. feel free to pm me if you dont want to continue off topic.

frame recall = shredder, IIRC

I miss a good ol' Toyota....:frown:...nothing on the dash but 3 or 4(tach) simple gauges...a simple truck...awesome build quality and value on a budget...

I own the newest Toyota's I'll ever have or want.

There American management team needs to be shredded.....but they know how to play the game. I don't need a "mericanised" Yota that bad....

IT'S NOT A RECALL.

Toyota has noticed a significant number of '95-'00 Tacomas with frames that are rotting out. So, they extended the frame warranty for 15 years, unlimited mileage. If you have a Tacoma in this year range, take it to your closest dealer, they will inspect it for free. If it fails, Toyota will buy the truck back from you. It's a sweet deal. It's all over the Internet, do the search.

Case in point: My son bought a '98 Tacoma this Spring, paid $6K for it w/210K miles on it. It was in incredible condition. A month later, they announced the warranty extension, so he had it checked. It flunked. Toyota gave him $13,100 for the truck, mailed him a check.

and my guess is that Toyota in there infinite wisdom, won't let any of it go to the recyclers....you know, anything but the frame?

THAT is what pees me off!....oh, and I HOPE I'm wrong....
