Hey Everybody-
The Colorado Trail Patrol has been revived and is currently working through a pilot program with USFS, State Parks, and the BLM. Our program is completely volunteer based and we could use your help. The system is setup so that volunteers report trail information. This info will be a major tool for the land management agencies. You can report issues you see anywhere in CO; this is a state-wide reporting program.
We ask our volunteers to log the trails they travel and document any issues they run across. This could be signage issues, drainage, or evidence of off-trail problems. Those reports get sorted and go directly to the managers and LEOs depending on the situation. We then work with them to determine and organize a solution. This will create a statewide network that will allow us to solve small issues quickly and prevent extensive damage from becoming an issue that could endanger a trail or trail system. Our main goal is preserving our OHV opportunities. As we advance, we would also like to be connected with clubs that have adopted certain trails.
Once you are trained, we only need a few minutes of your time after every ride. If you are already out there on the trails collecting GPS info and logging trail conditions, you could be a huge help!
We will be holding training all around the state (only about an hour long). Our upcoming ones:
Boulder- September 20th, 7pm. - Meadows Library Branch (4800 Baseline Rd. Boulder, CO 80303)
Longmont - September 27th, 6:30pm - Longmont Library (409 4th Avenue Longmont, CO 80501)
Colorado Springs - September 29th, 7pm - Fire Station 8 (3737 Airport Rd Colorado Springs, CO 80910)
Littleton - October 2 (Sunday), 3:30- Koelbel Library (5955 South Holly Street, Littleton, CO)
LIttleton - October 3, 630pm- Southglenn Library (6972 South Vine Street, Littleton, CO)
