We had Matt from Colorado Trail Patrol attend our April meeting. It was very informative and I think we will have several members attending his next training. As explained this really helps the FS and BLM keep track of where there are problems on trails and where there are not. I think this is a very worthwhile effort and it only takes about an hour of training, no cost and no renewal needed. I will update the title to reflect new dates as they come up.

Fire Station #8 (3737 Airport Rd), 6:30pm

There will be another training May 22

From Matt's previous post:

Wanted to quickly introduce the Colorado Trail Patrol. We are a volunteer program assisting the Forest Service and BLM better maintain and monitor our OHV trails. They are asking for more info, so they can do a better job.

Like any volunteer program, we need volunteers. BUT this is different than any other program. All we ask is that our volunteer log information about trails after you get home. You are already going to be going out and exploring, we would like to know about what you saw.

CTP manages an online database where the information you log is passed directly to the Trail Coordinators and Rec Managers within the agencies. No more trying to track down a phone number or email address and wondering if anyone cares about that guy doing doughnuts in a meadow. CTP ensures that any reports gets to the correct authority.

This is an easy and QUICK way for you to help protect trails for continued use.

We are holding a training session at Fire Station #8 (3737 Airport Rd), 6:30pm. It will be less than an hour long.

If you have questions, email us at CTP@StaytheTrail.org.
And Yes, we will be holding training again in the Springs area every few months.
