I was in Oxford this past weekend and some genius bought a bunch of old 70s cars and spray painted stars on them and calls his service "ROCK STAR TAXI" NO FOOLIN I left the Library (a bar...funny name for a college town) and caught a ride in..................THE A TEAM VAN...no kidding..crushed red velvet interior and all...crazy...wish I had a pic

anyway....a taxi service always works, depends on your overhead buying vehicles, etc.

I agree with a Greek centered T-shirt/college sports stuff shop......you can sell the heck out of it and if you door to door the greek houses chances are 3 of 15 will use you for one of their partys....that's not a big deal, but when you consider each order from each house will have 100s of shirts you can make bank.

The coffee shop idea has worked well in Oxford but you have to make sure it's in a very visible location and I agree with the fact it must have crazy late hours.....maybe serve sandwiches, have wifi etc.

What about a website that summarizes all food, bands, bars going on each night plus weather local numbes to police and fire etc....kind of a yellow pages adjusted for a college kid type deal? who knows my .02 cents

I can tell ya he probably won't be doing "anything" in Oxford! I think he would kill someone.

"ROCK STAR TAXI"

A friend of mine started that. I looked into starting one while in school. It's still an option.

I'm leaning towards a late night hot dog/bbq sandwich stand or stands. The guy in Oxford sells about 300 per night at $4 a dog. Of course that's only while the kids are in school, weather is good, Thursday- Sat, etc etc etc. If I could get a few hotties to man the carts and pimp the wieners and pay them 20% of sales then all is good. If it's my old ass selling dogs to a bunch of drunk kids then it won't last.

And Bodean's right. No Oxford for me.

You planning on relocating to the Starkpatch on a permanent basis?

That's the plan. I'm a few years out though.

Who runs the tailgate set-up on game day? How do you get in on that?

I dunno what the rules are at state, but a buddy of mine did it while in law school in oxford and made a freaking killing for the amount of work involved... i.e. get up at 4 am and set up tents for a couple hours. I can't remember what he charged, but I know that I was shocked when I found out how much he was making doing it.

An exclusive company now runs it through the university now in Auburn... it was a big stink 2 years ago... mainly becuase private tailgaters don't even get to have an opportunity at the "good" spots now... kinda ghey.

Sure is nice to just roll up, unload and start partying. TV, Sat, tables and chairs ready and waiting. Worth every penny!

Forgot you were a State fan.....in any case....yeah hot girls forking over hot dogs for $4 per dog.....everybody wins with that. Sounds like it would work in the Starkpatch as well.

the tent set up guys make a killing in Oxford......no idea what they make, but I have heard some actually set up the tent, ice down the beer, hook up the satellite, chairs, etc. and pull down $1000s a weekend!!

Think you have found your home on mud.:)

Nope. Those guys can dish it out but can't take it. I would rather just sit over here and be nice.
