The 13BT version is going to be a bit unstable; well matched to its owner. :D :D

New Year's resolutions time people! I resolve to attend the Jan 11 CC meeting, I resolve fur shur, without fail, to get my Ham radio licence in 2007.

Well I made the meeting on Jan. 11 and my multiband radio is on the way here (I NEED my ham licence now)!!

Bill, when is the March meeting? Is it the 8th? If so, I might be able to make it with the '55 or the '60 this time instead of a rental!

Anyone know where/how I can schedule writing the ham test in the first week of March? I'll be in Vancouver from about the 2nd or so to the 9th of March and I need to write the test at that time. I've been studying the book and using the CD with the question banks and I figure I'm about ready. I'm looking to get the "Basic with Honors" license for access to all ham bands.
I'm planning on making the March meeting as well and I'll bring the turbo-diesel '55 as per Jeff's request. It's not 100%, there are a few loose ends that need to be completed like the A/C and PTO, but it is running well.

Phone Stan at Com-West Radio on 8171 Main St., at 604 321 3200, down by Marine Drive. He may set you up with Ron Kolody if he is available to test you, providing you have averaged at least 70% on the internet test banks. Mention the Coastal Cruisers 4WD club. Hope you make it, we need more guys doing this.

I'll see if I can reach him tomorrow. I've been at probably 80-90% on the question bank. The problems are the double negative type questions.

I got a hold of Ron K and I may be writing on the 5th of March! Wish me luck, I'm shooting for 80%+ to get the "Basic with Honors".

Best of luck in the exam. Have a strong cup of coffee just before writing the exam--it stimulates cognative performance.

Bill, after you pass how long does it take to get your call sign? I hope to see you again on Thursday at the meeting before I head south on Friday.

btw The exam is on Tuesday afternoon and I'm averaging 85-90% on the exam generator. Is that a good indicator of what the exam will be like?

Cruiser_Guy:
I was pumped and in good shape the day I did the test, I actually found it easier than I expected. I think the examiner avoided those double negative trick questions and just asked the straight forward ones. I calculations seemed easier too. Ron marked my test right away and told me the score.
I think it took about three weeks or more to get my Ham certificate. Apparently there's only one guy in Ottawa who issues them and he is slow processing it. If you get a high score, the certificate will say BASIC + which means you will have some HF privileges as well. Congratulations in advance!

Passed with 89%!! The call sign will likely be VA7 CFW but I'll know tomorrow.

Happy to hear you got a good score cruiser_guy, you might have to wait a little longer to get your call sign. You will not regret the hard work getting ready. And good for you Drew, making the effort. Now, if we just could motivate a few more souls to get on this....
