Coastal Cruisers meeting July 12,2007
After a hearty meal & grog at the Spike, incidentally where Mat knows all the bar maids by first name, the meeting got around to order about 8:15 on a warm summer evening. Members present were: Jeff S, Gary T, Rob C, Sopel, Mike McT, Kim R, Marcin C, Malcolm M, Dan M, Rob Millson, Steve P, Mat R, Martin S, Steve T, Greg VanT, Nico D, and Bill W.
Guests: Charles from Guatemala.
First item was a review of the Bob Lake trip on July 3. Most agreed it was
an excellent trip although it took its toll in damaged vehicles: Mat’s tire and
transfer case lever, Rob C’s front hub, Chris’ fender and rear panel, Gary T’s coolant loss, and Drew’s mirror, dents, and scratches. Sopel says Roche Lake is excellent and Plateau L was good too. We want to explore that area more in the future.
Second item was the Whipsaw trip August 4-6. We hope to camp at Well’s
Lake the first and second nights, and Lodestone Lake on the last night. Those expecting to go to Whipsaw are: Steve T, Sopel, Nico, Craig, Rob C, Mat, Marcin, Justin, Greg V, Rob Millson, Gary T, Drew, and Bill. Some will be leaving on Friday the 3rd for an early start.
Third item was the Cruiser Days prep. Tsawassen Lion’s club is providing
the food services, T-shirts will be $15., First Aid Marcin & Craig, Dash plaques Steve T, Steve Dillan will host an information booth for the 4X4ABC, and Mike McT will be trail master, with Sopal’s help, for Harrison/Chehalis L. wheeling after the event. Most organization is now complete for the event. Dan says he will make a trophy for best and worst Cruiser entries. Craig, and probably Mat, will take lots of pictures during the event. Marcin will prepare paper ballots and direct traffic in the parking lot. Phil will supply the canopy, PA system, and generator. Rob Millson is MC. Should be good!
Re: the CC meeting August 9, it is ON.
Next item: Trail equipment thread. Jeff has started the thread on Mud and is
listing numerous trail survival equipment. You can add your ideas to his.
New member is Nico D and his wife Julie. A warm welcome to them into
our Cruiser community.
Final item, the raffle. Rob C won the creeper to lie on while fixing front hubs. Craig got the small tool kit. Steve P took the knife set. Mat walked with some screw drivers, Bill the Polar Pack, Nico some cool bungie cords, and Martin the fabulous tire plug installer tool. Many thanks to Mat for donating the Polar Pack to the prizes.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:00, amid the roar of passing freight trains, and once again, Port Moody was treated to the sound and smell of 15 diesel Cruisers rattling their windows and disturbing sleeping dogs.
