Come to think of it, I actually have a few Whitworth spanners down in the dusty bottom drawer of my toolbox, left over from my early days wrenching those dreaded POS British abortions.
Well, they're not tiny tools, most are around the 10mm up to 25 mm range. If his eyesight is bad at this age, he wouldn't be able to read 1/2W and would mistake it for 25 mm and get pretty frustrated on a front hub nut! That is, if he ever picks up a wrench anymore...
