fwiw, the usps offers a few different boxes in their "priority mail flat rate service" and i know one of them will work for the birfs. they charge $8.10 to ship anything that'll fit in the box they supply as long as it's under 70 pounds.

This is the REAL DEAL! Georg clued me in on this a couple of years ago! My mailman was almost in tears with one of the boxes Georg sent me! I still chuckle thinking about it.
