I have a Warn M8000 that I am getting ready to refurbish and mount on my 80. The clutch lever is stuck on the "engaged" side and i can't get it to budge. The winch is in really great shape, almost like new, and i haven't torn it apart to see what it needs.

Does anyone here know what might be wrong or have had this happen before?

Thanks!

The tolerances on the sliding clutch ring (for lack of the proper term) are pretty tight. If it has been inundated or wrongly lubricated, it will bind. Follow this link on how to rebuild it. It's pretty straightforward.

I bet yours will look like this inside:

I re-built both of my XD900I and I tried to find the factory lube I believe that it was aeroshell or something like that. I finally used regular synthetic greese on them and it has worked great. Unfortunatlly I had to do it a couple of years ago before I found Mud. I wish that I had this resource when I did mine. Good luck
