Best place to get a clutch kit for the 77 fj40....................

I got mine from man-a-free 4 years ago centerforce $235 you could probably find one cheaper on the internet.

I baught a kit from JT outfitters a few years ago, I don't recall the exact price, maybe around $300+. If I were putting in a new clutch today I'd probably go with Toyota parts(pricey but seem to work better than all of the knock offs) or Centerforce.

What about the problems with hot spots on the centerforce? I also am looking at clutch options. my first choice was factory toyota, from toyota, then I found out the price. All I can say is it better work the best for that price(around $650.00+tax).I see MAF has a kit from the oem supplier to toyota for about $165.00. That is the best option I have found.

They are all good, so take your pick. I sprang for the $30 extra for the Centerforce at MAF, only because the cheaper OEM one was out of stock and I didn't feel like making another stop to get one.

I usually find hot spots are a function of some improper service such as a poor resurfacing job. Have put a lot of torque in front of centerfoce clutches & PP's and never had one fail.

Hi All:

I'd vote for genuine OE Toyota clutch parts; "CDan" can hook you up.

Another option is place called "Carolina Clutch" that I've heard has good prices.
