Family and I went searching for a trail with snow. We went to Slaughterhouse Gulch, which ended up being dry. The surprise of the day was getting to the top of a hill, and hearing Eric on the ham. I was able to have a clear conversation with him on simplex. I was pretty surprised by that. I could hear Doug too. :)

Just looked at google maps - that looks to be about 34 miles!
What kind of power & antenna are you running? I was at 30 watts through a 5/8th wave antenna.

Our chat Saturday morning was about 22 miles.

Maybe even a bit further. Slaughterhouse is pretty far north of Bailey. Too cool.
I am running a Yaesu FTM-400DR with a Diamond NR770HAB antenna. I was on 5 watts, but kicked it up to 50 when you said I was broken.

Think this might have contributed to the noise coming out of the back of my truck yesterday?! There was a little play in it when i checked Saturday afternoon - but it got alot worse fast.

It's so close-up that I cannot even tell what it is!

Rear u joint - the outer cracked bit is the outer bearing race, and the shiny bit is the shredded inner race
