We should ask Gary T. to bring one of his photo albums to a meeting. He has a lot of great photos of the cabin and tubs. I think he has photo's of the tub placement as well. I still have my dash plaques of the "Coastal Cruisers Annual Clear Creek Clean Up" runs.

Those pics need to be scanned and hosted on our website!

I'd like to see more pictures of what it used to be like up there. The first time I went up was in probably '98 or so. I hiked because there was NO WAY my S10 blazer was going to get through the first washout, and I (being a complete newbie) couldn't believe that anyone was capable of driving that road. I drove up to the tubs in 2001 and at that time they were putting in the new road, but there were still some sections of the old trail, although it was nowhere near as challenging as it was the first time I saw it (I made it in my Ranger on 235/75 AT tires without grief).

I went up this last weekend to take a look (for the first time since '01). sigh. It appears that there are two (maybe more) sections of the old trail that may be accessible. A good brushcutter may help in finding those sections. Unfortunately, the road is very upgraded....I was in 2H 1st and 2nd gear the whole way in and out.

2 cedar tubs, 1 fiberglass and 1 ceramic tub are operational, but the area sure needs a lot of work.

You should include photos of the dash plaques and the t-shirt art.....

I went to work to work at Silver River camp in early May or June 1999 and one of the helicopters went ahead to have a look before we moved up there... they stoped by the springs to see the smoldering ashes of the cabin. I was a few days late to ever get to see it.

Here is some interesting information:

Proposed: Clear Creek Hotsprings Pocket Wilderness

I do remember reading somewhere about the lady miner who actually built the road and original cabin (the bulldozer rusting peacefully is what built the original road), but damned if I can remember where that was.
Regardless, the area around the springs is a protected park, albeit a very very small one.

landcrab, circa 1994, anyone recognize it?

Here are a few pics from Jul 1997. I think it was a kinda protest run, some official had the slide blasted out to block the trail and we reopened it. I think the T-Shirt with the cartoon that Ken F. drew up came shortly after. I think we slept in the cabin that night.

Full sized scans are here... Gallery.2Slow.ca - PDP Gallery :: Clear Creek JUL 1997

My first trip up there was in the early 90s and I had my Land Cruiser and no Cruiser friends. I winched up there on 31s on my first BJ60. I was overjoyed to read all the CC grafitti in the cabin. "Cruisers rule the mountain!" etc.

I still have all of Brad's pics, if anyone is interested in scanning them for the website. I will bring them to the next meeting. Let me know.
