Afterthought. When you apply the GOO-GONE with the brush. Let it sit a minute. Then work brush in circular motion. The GOO-GONE will sudenly get very black on the wheel and the brush (dissolved & suspended brake dust). This is good. Remove with paper towel. Clean off brush. Repeat. Results guaranteed!
 
there is a marine cleaner ive used called, "Tuff Stuff", strong enough to burn your skin. since using it on the boat to take all sorts of black marks off its worked magic taking oil off the driveway and some of the color from the pavers, my dad used it on the frotn quarter panel to remove some grease of some sort and it striped all the wax right off havent tried it on the wheels but pretty sure it should be of some help if you can get a hold of some, check west marine or another marine supply store, i think its worth having in the garage
 
The point about the clear coat is you may wish to avoid overly harsh or abrasive cleaners.
 
good point indeed scratch that then :doh: on the same note what is this clear coat, corosion prevention?
