cleanest looking bumper, ever, IMO

Unobtainium. I tried buying one. He stopped making small parts and went to full custom builds. He's a member here too. He also made a version with more side tubing as well.

damn seriously, that is really a bummer

Looks very similar to the one I threw together for my old 80. Honestly, I wouldnt be all bummed out that it isnt available, just copy it and make/get someone to make one for you.... Its not rocket calculus man.

D

I was lucky enough to get the prototype from Binks that was on Paul's cruiser.

Funny, I talked to him in Feb and he was making them. I wanted a rear bumper, but I also was looking for swingouts which aren't in his plans.

I'd contact him before giving up.

This is a link he shared with me:

I think that's the only 80 he'll build parts for :D

A lot of folks have tried getting a hold of him with zero replies. Doesn't answer messages, phone calls or emails. When he returned my deposit he said he was looking to shift the company in a different direction and focus on bigger projects.

Sell you mine if you pay for shipping from Hawaii :D

Sucks to hear he stopped making 80 stuff. I was about to contact him about a rear bumper. He was easy to work with when I ordered mine.

Yep, I had $$ in hand and after multiple unanswered FB posts, phone calls, messages and emails, I finally decided that he really didn't give a **** about this community and moved on. The thing that really p***ed me off was that he just dropped off the planet. If he had just replied or called me back and said "hey man I need to focus on other things so I am not going to be able to produce these bumpers anymore". That would have been fine, the fact that he just didn't do anything is what made me decide it wasn't worth the trouble.

If you are local he would probably do one for you, otherwise your best bet would be to take some pictures to a local shop ands see what they can do for you.

Bah the Binks bar is nice but i still rate mine better ;) Im not bais at all lol i just prefer the higher clearance of mine, coming out to cover the indicators. Not bad for a garage build. It should be noted that mine was built BEFORE the binks fab bar, however he maintains he had been building a similar design for 60 series lc's for years. Regardless both sweet bars.

As you can see from this side profile picture, its a tiny tiny bar like binks, but comes up higher because the wings enclose the indicators.

The things that Bink's has fabbed are top notch. That being said, he sounded like that was not his priority. He about ripped me a new one when I did finally get in touch with him on the phone and wanted to order a bumper and pick up with cash in hand. I ended up going with Slee. Not trying to talk bad about Bink, but it was apparent that he had other priorities.

You're not talking bad, just truth. Heaven forbid you want to pay cash to someone in exchange for a product. There's no place for that in this business. As mentioned before, he could've just answered with a simple "Not doing that anymore, but call me when you need a bumper that comes with a tube chassis attached." It's called professionalism. I don't care how good his work is, treating people like that loses my business.

That is a great looking design! I do remember somebody ragging on Binks in his old thread about copying the design...was that you? :flipoff2:

Negatory! I live less than an hour away. Still didn't work :)

There's hope!!!! Here is Bink's email response within 24 hrs of my inquiry about a front bumper: (maybe he'll redeem himself and earn all of our business):

" I actually have an 80 in the shop right now. We are going over the design I have and converting it to solid works so I can start
having the pieces laser cut and cnc formed! I will have info very soon on availability again of not only the front but also the
rear! "

When was this, 2011??? :D

But that's good to hear. Would be nice to see these bumpers on the market again. Not getting my hopes up though

If I remember correctly Binks supposedly stole MJ80's design. :crybaby:

Didn't seem like too much money in it for Binks since these bumpers and associated parts were all hand made in house. Compared to other vendors who are out sourced.
If he's gonna get the parts laser cut for production then it will be good on both ends. There is a fair amount of parts that need to be cut and welded up on the bumper compared to others. Especially for a small shop.

This morning at 0807 hrs.
I told him our concerns about lack of availability and perception of him here on the forum and that I hoped he could earn our business because his work looks fantastic, just need him to continue timely and open communication.
